A Myth

We climb up the mountainside slowly. It isn't too steep but it is covered in rocks. We often have to turn back because there are boulders in the way. When we first found one Luna suggested we destroy it. I told her not to, to save her mana since the boss will be tough. She reluctantly agrees but still asks every time we have to turn back. Fortunately, the small size of the path we're taking only allows for two Lizardmen at a time, or us three since the Lizardmen are wider than us. We manage to slay ten more, all in pairs of two. We use the same strategy each time. me taking the one closest to the edge, since I'm the only one who has experience fighting while flying. Innu and Luna take the other two. I manage to catch a good bit of them fighting and I'm honestly surprised at their teamwork. We get, well I get, 35000 Exp and 33121$. We also get an even five rare and five common materal drops. After slaying the last Lizardman we find another path and follow it. Almost immediately I notice something that sticks out to me.

"Hang on girls." I say stepping to my left and crouching down.

"What is it Alpha?" Luna asks me while turning around and walking over to me.

"The ground here, see how it dips? And how it continues to the boulder there?" I ask while pointing to the dip in the ground and the rock.

"Is that good?" Innu asks and I nod.

"It means the Lizardmen moved the boulder. So the boss is probably ahead." I explain and they each light up with excitement.

"Yes! I can't wait, it feels like forever since I fought something for real!" Innu says and I look at her a little concerned.

"Innu, do you enjoy battle?" I ask her and she turns to me.

"Sometimes. I don't enjoy battles to the ****, like with the Devils. But I did learn from it and I enjoy training with Luna and Asami. But it is nice to see how much I've progressed in an actual battle." She says and I pet her, glad she isn't enjoying these life-or-**** fights. I see Luna pouting and start petting her too.

"Okay girls, are you ready?" I ask them and they each nod. We follow the path, almost straight up the mountain. Sometimes there are detours when a large boulder, ones that I assume are too large to move, blocks the path. However, we do notice many more boulders moved to the side. As we near the top I notice it forms a ridge, and assume it must curve inward. We walk up to the top and I gasp. I was right, the mountain top dips inward and forms a giant bowl shape. We stand on the edge of the bowl and in the center sleeps a Dragon. It looks just like the one from the Ruins, but it has green scales instead of red. I Observe it before pulling the girls back to make sure they don't alert it yet.

"Is that a Dragon!?" Innu asks, shocked and a little happy. I'm pretty sure she was jealous that we fought one once before and she couldn't join.

"Yeah, it's not as strong as the one in the Ruins though. But it's still going to be tough." I say before telling them what Observe showed me.

"Are we fighting it?" Luna asks me and I nod.

"Yeah, but let me attack first. I'll take out its wings so it can't fly. As long as it doesn't fly it shouldn't be too bad. We should be able to dodge it and if we split up it would focus on one or two of us. That way one of us could get in close and attack safely before backing off." I answer and they each nod. We climb back up the path and split up. We each circle around the dip until we're an equal distance apart. Once I see them each give me the signal, just a raised fist, I attack. I cast Ancient Beast Slash, aiming it for its right wing. Fortunately, it's sleeping on its side with its back facing me. Its left wing is underneath it but the other is draped over it, almost like a blanket.

The Dragon's eyes shoot open as blood seeps from its wound. It stands and faces me before roaring and spreading its wings. I smile upon seeing five long claw-shaped holes in its wing. It starts running towards me but stops as a wave of fire crashes into its right side. Almost immediately after another Ancient Beast Slash crashes into its left.

The Dragon turns from me to the others before turning back to me. It lunges at me and I jump, using my wings to go above it. I turn back and cast Elemental Breath using fire.

I look at the glowing corpse surprised. I walk up to it along with the girls and store the materials away.

"Was that it?" Innu asks in surprise.

"Yeah, I guess we're stronger than we thought." I answer and they each smile.

"I'm glad it wasn't as scary as the last time." Luna says and I nod.

"Yeah, well are you two ready to go home?" I ask them and they each grab onto me. I enter my Domain with the two of them.
