Marvel: A team is assembled to explore the Swamp.

Stepping out of a SHIELD transport into a temporary mobile base the four women that have been called in to help are curious about the situation. The quartet consist of Susan Storm, Carol Danvers, Jean Grey, and Rogue. Brought to a temporary briefing room the four ladies are joined by Maria Hill and a female SHIELD scientist they don't recognize.

"I'm going to be direct at exactly 0600 three days ago an entire swamp just appeared consuming and altering multiple acres of forest in the area." Maria explains.

"That's why we're here a swamp?" Rogue asks incredulously.

"I assure you this no ordinary swamp even as we speak. Not only is it expanding but we've seemed to have lost all contact with the teams sent in to investigate. In particular all those we lost complete contact with have been male. We've only been able to recover a single female agent." Maria explains.

"Can we interview this agent then?" Jean asks.

"That won't be possible she's shown minimal brain activity and hasn't awaken since she returned." Maria explains.

"As you can tell this mission will both be a study to find out what is occurring and if possible, rescue the agents still trapped in the swamp." The SHIELD scientist adds.

"Ladies this is Jemma Simmons she'll be joining you for this mission." Maria informs the group.

Seeing no reason to deny this request the group gathers enough supplies to last them in the swamp for the mission. Jemma gathers a small portable lab to analyze anything they come across to solve this mystery and why this has happened. Getting some last-minute gear all five women are ready to find and rescue the missing agents. Stepping past the perimeter of the base the quintet of woman can see a strange barrier stepping through it with ease. They adjust to the sudden shift in light as if they went from midday to night in seconds. Although it is still day this strange swamp has trees towering so high, they block out the sun only allowing a few scant rays to reach the ground. Finding a nearby clearing that doesn't have several inches of water they set up their camp.

"Jean, are you picking anything up?" Rogue asks her teammate.

"It's difficult to pinpoint anything since we entered here. It's like a massive wave of static with several minds making it hard to find any one person." Jean replies.

"My devices are having the same problem though at most short-range radios still work. If we get close enough to where the agents are the radios should help us find them." Jemma says handing each of them a radio.

"Alright everyone keep in contact and don't wander too far we don't know what lives here." Susan warns them.

"If anything does come, I'm sure I'll be more than enough to handle things." Carol boasts powering up a photon blast.

Rolling her eyes at Carol's boasts, Rogue and the rest of them have gotten use to the blonde's bragging. Setting up a small perimeter for security the day seems to just fly by for the rest of them. Making a decent campfire the girls rest for the day where their search really begins. Unaware to the sleeping women several of the creatures that call this swamp home have taken an interest in them. Crawling on and into the ears of a couple of them are earwigs looking for a new home, while some millipedes slip down their throats some unlucky enough to be eaten. No matter how many crawl on or into them none of the women are roused from their sleep. Unknown to them this will be the first of many changes they will be going through as they explore the swamp.
