Jane accepts

Jane sat there, her mouth a gasp before pulling herself together. "Oh. I guess so. It's not up to me to tell you everything. That's Steven's decision. But, I would be happy to meet up for a coffee or something one day, yes."

Terry smiled with relief more than anything. "Thank you Jane. What time should I come over?" Turning his attention to Steven.

"Whenever you want Terry. I still don't have a job, but mum works during the day so she won't be home until around six or so. It will be just Jade and myself at home."

"That's no problem. I have a feeling this is gonna be something that needs to be kept pretty quiet. You know some people tell their barman stuff that they won't speak to their doctor about apparently, so we're pretty good at keeping our mouths shut. Most of the time anyway." His comment was aimed at the staff member he mentioned earlier. "I'll be over say, just after midday sound alright?"

"Yeah, I'll be up by then. I don't need to have much sleep nowadays."

"Great. I'll see you then. Oh. By the way. Congratulations to you. I'm really pleased for you kid."

"Thank you Terry." Steven reached over and cuddled up to Ellen. "I couldn't have asked for a better person to be the mother of my child." Ellen smiled and kissed Steven on the cheek.

"You're a lucky man Steven. Now. You lot had better go so I can close for the night. I'll try and keep those two newbies over there busy for a couple of minutes so you can get away, just in case."

"Thank you Terry." Jane spoke. "Any help I can get protecting my family is greatly appreciated." They quickly downed the remainder of their glasses and stood to leave. As they opened the door, the 2 strange men started to rise from their seats to leave too. Terry moved to get in the way and question them.

"What's going on then. I have no problem with strangers coming into my pub. But sitting there and not ordering anything is not normal. Plus I saw you looking over at my friends all night since the boy and his girlfriend walk in. So here's how it goes. You either tell me the truth, or you barred." The two men looked at each other.

"Nothing really mate. We're just passing through and stopped here for the night before we carried on going back down to London."

Terry wasn't buying it. "I know bullshit when I hear it. And everything you just said reeks of it. Just so you know, My ex is a cop and I learnt a lot from her about spotting a lie when it's aired. So, wanna try again?"

"Who the hell do you think you are talking to a couple customers that just want to relax before they go on their way. For all you know we could be a couple reviewers going around giving people a written report on how good or bad local pubs are."

"I'm not stupid dickhead. 1, people that do reviews tend to be local, not from London. 2, I saw the corner of the I.D poking out from your friends jacket earlier. Having spoken to my ex earlier, I know that no one from C.I.D. is here. 3, I've heard rumours of some newspaper reporters snooping around over some nightclub incident the other night. So my guess is that is what you are. Now. If you decide to use my pub again. You come here in order to do what everybody else does, and have a few drinks. You do not come here and give the rest of my customers reason to ask me what you're doing. Most of them noticed and some of them got rather suspicious of you. So you either drink, or stay the fuck out my pub and stop freaking my regulars out. I hope I have made myself clear."

The reporters knew that they had been found out. But one them also realised something else. "You're stalling. He's helping them get away." They both rushed to get out and try to catch up with Steven and his companions." Damn it. They got a good head start on us. Let's get back to the car and see if we can spot them on the way." They got in the company vehicle and drove back towards the road that Steven lived on, hoping to see them on the way. What they didn't know, was Steven had used his powers to transport them back his home so they couldn't be followed.

Now that they was back home. Jane quickly closed the curtains before turning on the lights. "That was close one. You sure you'll be fine with me going back to work tomorrow Steven? I can still work from home if you need me to."

"It's entirely up to you mum. Whatever you think is best."

Ellen then raised her concerns. "They know what we look like now. I have to go back in tomorrow. There's a lot of things I need to clear up. If they're still hanging about they might see me and know what house we're in."

Steven thought for a minute. "I'll deal with it in the morning. For now. 3 of us have to get up for work. Jade and I can hold the fort and keep everyone informed of anything that might turn up." They all agreed.

John was next to speak. "Well I'm too pissed to drive home now. So if it's ok Jade, I'll stay with you tonight."

"No problem honey." Then whispered in his ear. "I wanna fuck first. I'm safe at the moment. So you don't need to pull out if you want to forget the rubber." John went red and looked very uncomfortable at her admission.

Ellen smirked and turned to Steven. "looks like you're not the only one getting laid tonight." Steven sniggered and Jane went just shook her head with slight smile.

"Well I better go and get some sleep as I have to get up. I will ask all four of you to keep the noise down though."

Jade turned to her mum. "No promises mum." Then gave Jane a hug. "Goodnight mum. Love you."

"And you too Jade." Jane then went to Steven and gave him a hug too. "Goodnight Steven."

"You too mum. Sleep well."

"I will if you lot let me." She put her hand on Ellen's arm and gave her quick peck on the cheek. "Tell me when the little one starts kicking."

"I'll let you know as soon as. Back to normal for us both for a while until then. Goodnight."

Jane then went to John. "I'm not gonna lecture you. I've already got one grandchild on the way. All I ask is that you let Jade get a bit older first before it happens. But if she does get pregnant too. I won't complain." Then gave John a peck on the cheek too before heading up the stairs.

John took a minute before coming out of his shock. "That does it. I really need a joint after that comment." He opened the window and sat to roll up his joint. He then felt 3 pairs of eyes looking at him. "What? Anyone else wanna join me." The others looked at each other. They all heard what Jane said and in unison they all replied "Yes."
