Bonnie's plant begins to grow

Bonnie Andrews sat at her desk and idly stroked the surface of her desk plant as she read the passage of her medical science textbook. She was bored out of her mind and felt a bit pathetic studying on a Friday night instead of going out and doing something with friends. Still, she figured if she front-loaded her studying tonight, she would have more time for fun during the rest of the weekend.

The current unit for Bonnie's medical science course focused on **** use and addiction. Turning the page in her textbook, Bonnie saw a picture of an extremely muscular woman. The title for this subsection was female anabolic steroid usage: virilization and health complications.

The opening text read:

Some female athletes turn to anabolic steroids in order to overcome biological limitations with respect to performance and muscle mass. These **** can provide substantial increases in muscle mass, but come with many costs. Many female athletes that take steroids experience what is known as virilization. Symptoms include deepening of the voice, increased body hair, and disruptions in the menstrual cycle. Some women even report enlargement of their clitoris to the point where the organ resembles a phallus.

"Ew," Bonnie said. "No thank you!"

A moment after Bonnie said, she felt the surface of her desk plant bulge outward. Alarmed, Bonnie glanced over and gasped at what she saw. The plant was bigger!

"What the heck?"

The plant now extended about three inches above the soil. The shape was more oblong than before, with swelling at the tip that made it look a bit like a mushroom. A very, very lewd mushroom.

Bonnie giggled and whipped out her phone to take a picture. Anthony _had _promised her a very strange plant - one that defied known science. A plant growing several inches in less than a minute certainly seemed to fit the bill. The penis-like shape only made the situation stranger and funnier.

As Bonnie adjusted her phone camera, the plant suddenly underwent a second surge of growth. Bonnie watched in disbelief as her desk plant surged upwards, growing to a startling seven inches. By now, the plant had nearly outgrown its container.

"Wait, if you keep going like this, you're going to bust out of that thing!"

As Bonnie said this, her desk plant began to shiver, hinting at another surge of growth. If Bonnie didn't do something, it was going to shatter the planter and make an absolute mess.

"Crap, wait here!" Bonnie said. "I'm going to get you a bigger pot. Do not break out while I'm gone."

Bonnie rushed down to the basement and grabbed one of her parents' spare planters and a bag of potting soil. She was halfway up the stairs when she heard a loud clatter. Her heart sank as she realized she was too late.

"I told you to wait!"

Bonnie entered her room to find dirt and shards of pottery scattered across her desk. Her formerly cute desk plant now resembled a very large penis. Even the coloring seemed to match, with the head taking on a deep purple color. At the base of the "penis" were roots that Bonnie swore were squirming and slithering in the soil.

Frustrated and deeply concerned, Bonnie hauled the bag of dirt over and placed it next to the mess. Then she pulled out her phone and called Anthony. Sure, he had promised a weird plant, but this was way too weird for Bonnie's taste.

After several rings, Bonnie heard her call go to voicemail. Where was he? Anthony was never one to miss a phone call, especially from her.

A strange noise suddenly caught Bonnie's attention. She turned around and saw her plant crawling into the bag of dirt. The roots of the plant slithered into the dark earth as the body continued to grow larger and larger, sprouting new appendages as it did so.

"This cannot be happening," Bonnie muttered.
