Hesitation

“We- I didn’t think you liked me like that.” Tom thought about it, he’d always snuck looks covertly, they’d been friends for a long time, and he hadn’t ever made a move. He didn’t want to wreck it. In his past life he could see himself making a move, flubbing it and making things awkward for everyone.

…but that was before. He felt too good, too confident, he felt like he’d ran and won a marathon. He could still feel the changes being wrought in his new form even now. She was looking more like she was going to be an Amazon, and Tom still dwarfed her. She chewed on her bottom lip, before shaking her head back and forth. “I- wow, I want to, but I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Her eyebrows furrowed. “Something’s happening. I don’t really know what it is, but, like, I saw Alice earlier and she- I dunno, she seemed shorter. Like, she lost an inch or two and I gained an inch? And, I’ve been having trouble focusing. We should see Sam, he’s the doctor.”

Tom nodded thoughtfully. “You’re right something is definitely happening. I’ll keep an ear out for anything on the news or online. Why don’t you go pick up Alice and Sam and we’ll all stick together to keep an eye out for each other. Monitor for any more changes.”

She nodded, relieved to be taken seriously. “Yeah, yeah that sounds like a plan. I’ll round them up and we can come back here. Sam might be working, but if he’s off I’ll bring him too.” They stood. She looked up at him and felt a small jolt run through her. Her mind drifted just for a moment to the idea of him holding her down and fucking her from behind like an animal. She shook her head. Maybe she should have taken him up on that offer.

Before she could change her mind she grabbed her purse of the side table and retreated out the door, giving Tom an awkward little wave and a smile and a promise that she’d be back with Alice later. Tom grinned as the door shut behind her. He was working from home this week anyways, so he had a pretty high degree of freedom. He should check the news and see how much of the changes have begun to take place, and how people were reacting.

He chuckled to himself. It was going to be an interesting week.
