Someone Special
Andreas sat on the bed, alone in his room. He could feel the influence of the spell disappearing as the pain in his leg was increasing with every passing second.. He stared at the floor with an angry face.
He was mad at himself. He could've handled it better. He could've have a talk in a friendly manner...
The first mistake that Voigt did was accepting the kiss when he came back home with Sally. Lisa clearly took it as a sign of reaffirming one of their pre existing relationships and took it further. She was surprisingly open towards his new roommates about what they were going to do, but she also sometimes did talk like that just to make others uncomfortable, so it wasn't that much outside of her usual behaviour.
But he could've stopped it during dinner. He could've raised his voice during walking up the stairs, he could've led her into other room. Everything that he did during the evening led to this and now she... She went away, to her room. Andreas was really worried that he lost a life long friend.
He stood up, took his cane, and went towards the doors. When he opened it, Illy was standing there, with concerned facial expression.
"Mistress is gone."
She said as soon as she noticed Andreas.
"Gone... What?"
"She went out to get some air like half hour ago. Didn't come back since then. We have to search for her."
Andreas tightened his grip on the cane.
"One minute."
He said, and then went towards the guest room. Andreas knocked on the doors three times, and when he heard no answer, he just shouted through the doors:
"Sally went out like half hour ago. I'll go search for her. When I'm back... Let's talk, okay? Please."
Silence was his answer.
Not being able to waste any time at trying to get out something from his clearly angry ex, he stepped away from the doors, towards Illy and the stairs.
"Wow, you fucked up two relationships in one night." The elf commented. "Don't stare at me like that, I might not get involved in your games, but I do have eyes. I could see what was wrong since you arrived."
Andreas didn't respond, just pulled out his phone. He dialed Sally's number and called. He didn't expect the loud noise of the nearby device which nearly startled him. Illy pulled out her friend's phone from the pocket.
"That was the first thing I tried. Seriously, the mistress needs to start answering it and taking it with her. Otherwise what's the point of having a machine like that?"
Andreas gave her a nod. They went down stairs and after he Voigt put on some shoes, they went out through the front doors.
"We should split up." Illy said when they were on the road. "I'll go south, you go north."
"It's dark, aren't you worried..." Andreas began, but the elf didn't let him finish.
"I am more than capable of dealing with threats than you, plus I have magic. If anything, I'd be worried about you since I live in your house, but the mistress takes priority. We have to find her."
She explained. Andreas couldn't argue with that.
After they parted ways, he walked through the night, observing the neighborhood. Looking for any sign of the Lamia. It was, of course, a long shot, because she could've been gone by now, since she had like half an hour on him.
The old feeling of regret burdened his troubled mind again. He, like Illy stated, fucked it up. Again. It looked like it was the only thing he was good at these days. Nothing really went his way, and all could be traced back to his mistakes.
He should've tried harder and talked to Sally. Explain that Lisa is the past and that he wants to try and have a future with the half snake beauty.
Or even earlier, he never should've given her a silence treatment. He never should've let anyone interrupt them their moment. He never should've stop their moment himself.
Something pulled him out of those gloom thoughts.
A random droplet of water that hit his nose.
"Crap. It's going to rain." He said with an annoyed voice.
"You didn't take the umbrella with you?"
"No..." He responded automatically to the familiar voice.
Andreas turned his head. He saw her, standing in the light of the night lantern, smiling.
"Sally..."
He began, but she raised her hand.
"Hold on. Let me speak, please."
She moved her body closer to him, took his arms and embraced him.
Then the Lamia found his face with hers, was using her lips to find his.
Two separate entities whose destiny has brought them together despite them being from two different worlds. Different races. Different cultures and technology levels. Different backgrounds, different physics, different biologies. Different views on the world, different beliefs, different ways that they took to get where they needed to be.
United, in a feeling that transcends all of that and more. Sharing each others presence. Enjoying themselves, forgetting about the rest of the world.
She planted a deep, sensual kiss on his lips. He wanted more, but she disconnected, with a smile.
And then she whispered the most powerful spell in the existence:
"I love you."
