Chapter 43 by duskdawn duskdawn

...or is it?

Girl and Goblin Talk

"Did you really feel the need to call him my boyfriend in front of him?" Camilla lies on the bed, exhausted from practice.

"It's not my fault you couldn't wait for me." Kara teases as she prepares another sandwich for her girlfriend. "Don't worry though, I'm willing to wait for you." She turns her head and smirks.

"I-...sorry..." The brunette mumbles. "I don't even know why I did it. He beat me in a practice match, even knocked me out, and when I came to, I just-" She flexes her hands before dropping them to her face.

"That's enough. You don't need to try to excuse yourself. He clearly had an impression if you took to him after one night." The blond takes the wooden plate and sits beside Camilla as she sits up.

"I'm not trying to excuse myself, just...still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing... I didn't even think about him that way until I woke up in his arms and freaking wings wrapped around me."

"He was in his true form?"

"Yeah... I must have been pretty pent up if I thought having sex with a man with horns poking out of his head was a good idea at the time." Camilla takes a bite of the sandwich, savoring the taste of Kara's cooking.

The blond meanwhile, has a curious look on her face. "Would you do it again? I mean, if we weren't together. You made your point yesterday quite clear." She nervously chuckles. "And don't get me wrong, I appreciate it, but...I'm curious, is all."

"What, you think you have competition?" She chuckles, enjoying a chance to tease Kara for a change. "I...honestly don't know. Maybe? If it was just for sex, probably. I don't have the best memory of that night, but his dick was huge. I couldn't even get it all inside me!" She bites her lip, remembering the sensation of being completely filled.

"Oh, now I'm jealous." She giggles jokingly as she takes Camilla's hand. "Next you're gonna tell me you fainted after sex because it was so good."

The brunette blushes, avoiding eye contact. "I-I actually did, b-but I was also pretty exhausted from everything, so I can't just say it was the sex."

"Really? Maybe I'll have to test him out myself in a few days."

"Stop that! I already have plans for us that night!"

"Oh? Planning on deflowering me on my birthday? How sweet of you." More giggling, followed by a blushing, shocked face. "You...are planning that?"

Camilla's face turned a bit more serious at the mention of birthday sex. "Y-yeah. I was going to make a big show of it, but damn you and your teasing." The captain squeezes her girlfriend's hand. "Of course, that was only if you were on board with it... I have to admit, I don't know your family's views on pre-marital sex. It never really came up before." She chuckles.

Uncharacteristically flustered, Kara continues. "Th-they'll be okay with it. However, there is something we should do before then. Care to join my family for dinner tomorrow? They'll probably want to talk to Dusk, too. My family has...weird views."

"And that includes inviting someone we've both known for not even a week to our first dinner with them as a couple?"

"In your circumstances, yes. He did bring you back to life, after all."

Camilla nods, before realizing how her girlfriend just said that. She stares at her, slack-jawed. "He did what?!"

You land in the goblin village, once more startling the nearby goblins. "You okay?" You set down your sidekick.

"All good, Chief." She stays close, still in her fur dress. You hadn't taken the time to go back to your room to grab the dress you'd gotten for her last night.

"Alright, so we're going to need as much information as we can get before going to conquer the other goblin tribes."

"I thought you said we were going to wait, though."

"Well, I did say that. However, I need to get stronger fast. We repelled the hornets last night, but they're going to be stronger next time." I don't even know what wolf-hornet hybrids are gonna look like, let alone their skillset...

Eve nods, immediately going to speak to one of the nearby goblins. As she does so, you scan the village, arms crossed. You're not looking for anything, just taking in the surroundings. The makers are struggling to take apart the hornets without breaking the usable parts, but they seem to have successfully turned one of them into some makeshift armor, fitting some broken pieces of exoskeleton to a third goblin. Some of the others are having sex out in the open, their moans reaching the entire tribe. The hunting party's gone, but a couple of others are keeping watch, walking around the edges of the area.

Eventually, Eve returns to your side. "There's two tribes. One of them is almost directly northwest from here, and one is north and a bit east. The first one is closer and weaker. They've got big goblins and orcs, but nothing really dangerous for you, Chief. The other tribe is stronger, with an ogre among them. Ogres are big and strong, but slow. It might be better to think of them as siege weapons than regular enemies."

You nod along, noticing a bit late the armored goblin approaching you. He's wearing a striped chestplate made up of two slightly curved pieces of hornet carapace, neither of which covering his entire torso, and a helmet made up from the hollowed-out chest of one of the hornets. In his hand, he holds a sharpened bone around the size of a dagger or shortsword. He speaks to you, not even addressing Eve, and seems to wait for you to respond.

You look to Eve, who quickly translates. "He's asking when you plan to attack the other tribes and if he can join you."

"Well, unless you've got any ideas, I was planning on heading out to the northernmost tribe soon." You shrug. "Do you have any problem with him joining us, Eve?" She shakes her head, then starts speaking to the armored one. You take another look around as she explains. It may be more dangerous, but that's entirely the point. The longer I leave them unchecked, the more likely an ogre attacks Riverbend.

Eve shortly finishes. "We're ready when you are, Chief."

"Alright, let's go conquer another tribe." You lift up the pair, one in each arm, and take a few steps away from the nearby goblins. The armored one seems uncomfortable with being carried, but when Eve says something to him, he adjusts his grip. "Eve, what's his name?"

"Borak. It means 'fierce'."

"Alright. Borak, follow my lead, okay?"

After Eve translates, he nods. "Follow...Chief."

You lift off, heading north. It's just after noon, so we should have plenty of time to conquer both tribes and get me to evolve tonight. You climb into the sky, and feel the fright of Borak as his nails dig into your skin. It takes some time for him to acclimate, but by the time you reach soaring altitude, he seems to have relaxed a bit, although his breathing is still heavy. You actually feel Eve chuckle against you as she watches, finding the situation amusing. You lose track of time, but Eve eventually points out something to your right. You don't see anything noticeable within the trees, but considering she's a ranger, you decide to trust her judgement and descend, making sure you do so slowly so Borak doesn't get airsick.

Just an ogre and some orcs, right? Nothing to worry about...
