Aelita and Starfire in handcuffs

As soon as you saw Starfire, Aelita and their entourage getting escorted into the police station live on TV, you immediately called your dad to tell him to meet you at the police station. You were furious to see them in hand cuffs, being walked through a crowd of reporters that were swarming the station like Larry’s ‘hive’ over honey nut cheerios .

You didn’t like using your dad’s influence but for Starfire and Aelita you would use everything you had. The two of you met up in the parking lot and ‘requested’ a talk with the captain after pushing our way past the crowd. The captain readily agreed to a meeting after Clawhauser and Jenny recognized you and your dad.

“I am so sorry for the inconvenience Mr. Gardner,” the police captain schmoozed as your dad and you left his office.

“My officers were simply a little over eager after that rampage last night,” he continued as we walked down the stairs from his office. You passed by some flowers that slowly stopped trying to bite the people around them and returned to normal flowers. “We were ordered to bring any and all bootleg modded characters in and track their origin. The mods that is.”

“That’s alright, but why were the reporters called before the police came to question or called me?” You asked with a bit of a bite in your voice and a flower on a desk grew teeth and growled.

“The rookie Nolan found a couple of bugs in his shop…err car,” he explained as some reporters were in handcuffs. You ignored them as they tried asking questions. “We are looking through other cars and we found a few bugs and fairy spies. Their owners are in trouble but the damage was done, they heard ‘bootleg mods’ and ‘rampage area’ over the radio and showed up while your characters were brought in.”

“Well, we are in the middle of wedding preparations, so if you can just release them to us, we can get on our way,” your dad suggested as we approached an officer’s desk.

“Oh, who are the bride and groom,” the chief asked as he gestured to the officer who walked away to the printer.

“The very pregnant Aelita and the Starfire you are holding right now are my fiancées,” you say with a hardened voice. The captain let out a quiet ‘oh’ before turning awkwardly away and grabbed the paper the officer gave him.

“Your Starfire already gave her statement about where she got the mods and we traced it to a raid a few months back after other characters alerted us. So your characters are clear to go as long as you sign this stating that you agree to have the bootleg mods removed or replaced at some point in the near future,” he says as he hands it to you. You are able to read that Starfire had a bootleg version of a Greenfield brand enhanced senses mod, electrical resistance, nightvision, and fluffier fur mods. Your dad takes the paper and scans it.

“Never sign without a lawyer, I always say,” He comments as he looks through the provisions. “But it looks straight forward, we just have to get the mods listed replaced, I’m sure I have the legal versions at home, and we have 10 business days to do it.” He hands it back and allows you to sign it. The captain then leaves and the officer takes you over to interrogation where the John Nolan from yesterday was giving water and food to the girls.

“Here are some bagels; I am really sorry about this,” Nolan said as Aelita grabbed the bagel and ate it alongside a deep fried twinkie she grabbed from a bag.

“It's alright, it's just those reporters,” she said as Marinette looked out the narrow window near the roof at the dissipating crowd of reporters.

“Aelita, Starfire, are you alright?” you asked as you opened the door and started fussing over them.

“James! Apologies, I didn’t realize the trouble I would cause,” Starfire replied with her head bowed and her ears bent in shame. You hugged her and pet her around the ears; you stopped and embraced Aelita who was starting on another twinkie.

“I-I am really sorry about this,” Nolan said to us. “I-we were…”

“You were just doing your job,” Aelita said at the same time as your dad. Aelita quickly said ‘Jinx’ before your dad could. “Don’t be hard on him, their scanner picked up the bootleg mods the bastards put on Star and they brought us in due to their standing orders.”

“Yeah, we are cracking down on bootlegs and we had to bring them in; standard procedure would’ve just been a warning but after yesterday…”

“Don’t worry about it and while I would like to hang around a bit longer but we have some stuff we need to get to today,” you say somewhat nicely. You are led to the impound where the SUV the girls had taken was being brought in and they signed it out to you. Your dad brought your car around while Aunty Samus brought his car around while you waited with the girls. Once all the cars were in one place, you think about what you should do now.
