IR Day 16 - New event

No weird uniforms. No funny business at all. You’re all dressed in FUTA sweats and FUTA tees as you walk to the field, Thursday night. The other teams are coming as well, so you look, but you don’t get a glimpse of Ingrid. Blue Team is over at the other end of the field.

You and the others file into your seats on the field. Folding chairs have been set up for you. Puzzled, you and your teammates sit down and take in all the stuff that’s been set up. There’s a big stage with podiums and lights and a huge screen… this is fancy, even by FUTA standards. What in the world are they doing?

Azu’s on your left. Syd is on your right.

The six teams are seated on the field in rows. Yellow Team is at the back and to the right. Pink Team is ahead of you. You look at them, feeling a lump in your throat. Lara is the captain now. That doesn’t bother you. Lara’s not perfect, but neither are you.

You just miss your friends.

Moxxi and Lulu walk out onto the stage, huge spotlights following them as music plays.

“Will the captains please come up?” Lulu asks, gesturing grandly.

You sit there and watch as Karin, Lara, Adella, and the others all make their way up to the stage. They do their best not to look confused as they go up and take their places at the podiums. They’re labeled with the colors of the teams: PINK, GREEN, BLUE, etc.

God… what are they going to make these captains do? Adella looks like she’s trying not to laugh. Lara looks confident, and as though she’s having a lot of fun. That bothers you. If that was you right now, you would be so nervous… kind of like Karin looks. She’s sweating and she looks like she’s an inch away from a meltdown. That’s exactly how you would be if it was you.

Chun looks calm. Shep looks calm. Eliza looks calm. How do they do it?

You try to look at the bright side: it’s a good thing that it’s Lara. Whatever this is, she will handle it better than you would. You have no doubt about that.

“OK, let’s go!” Moxxi shouts excitedly into the mic. “FUTA Trivia! Let’s go!”

Oh gosh. It’s definitely good that it’s not you. School was never your strong suit. Actually, it was your obvious and well-known weak suit. Relief floods through you. You see now how this is supposed to work: the captain is just the representative, not the solo player in this trivia game. The team has to feed them information.

“Tonight’s category,” Moxxi announces to the cheering crowd, “Erotic Thrillers!”

“What?” you say out loud. Wait… that’s one thing that you actually know about. You always liked movie sex scenes more than porn during your, uh, solo time. This led you to have some knowledge of the movies with the best sex scenes in them. That’s good for your team, right?
