Invitation required

You spent a minute or two digging into your meal with everyone else also focusing on their food, starting to make a dent in the task they had before them.

“So, how was everyone’s day?” Mom asked as she always did, giving everyone a chance to jump in once people had calmed their hunger.

“I didn’t leave the house today so you pretty much know what I’ve done” Lucy replied, before going back to her food.

It took a lot of restraint to stop yourself from saying you ‘knew exactly what she had been doing’ but you somehow managed.

“Normal lessons to be honest. Not a lot of homework with exams coming up but me and Emma have been doing some studying after class” You said next, noticing a look from Sarah when you mentioned your ‘after class’ activities.

“Pretty much the same except cheerleading. I did visit one of my teachers and she was pretty helpful” Sarah added, giving another quick glance in your direction before she carried on now that she had brought up Rebecca.

“Actually I wanted to mention her before, I was kinda hoping to invite her over for dinner one day as thanks. Today wasn’t the first day she’s helped me out and we had Emma over yesterday so I didn’t want to bring it up then. I don’t know if she’ll accept but do you think I could invite her to a family meal?” Sarah asked, trying to stay casual at inviting Rebecca but she kept turning her eye line to you far too often.

“Oh sure! What’s her name? Have I met her before?” Mom asked back, excited to have the chance at entertaining another guest.

“No she’s rather new. It’s Miss Ryan, she’s Max’s and I’s biology teacher” Sarah replied, making both Mom and Lucy stop when they heard the name.

The mention of Rebecca’s name seemed to immediately change the atmosphere at the table. Both Mom and Lucy quickly spun their heads to look in your direction before Mom realised that Lucy had had the same reaction as her. The puzzle pieces seemed to connect as they realised they were both aware of the multiple women in your life.

“...I’m sure she’d accept if you ask her” you replied, bringing the attention back to you while Mom and Lucy dealt with their own feelings silently.

“Honey I’m not sure that's a good idea to invite her” Mom said to Sarah, leading you to cut back in.

“She is one of the younger teachers but you don’t have to worry about that. I’m sure she’ll make a great guest. Besides, she’s the principal's daughter so it can’t hurt to be on friendly terms right?” you replied, trying to give reasons unrelated to your relationship with her.

“Yeah Mom why the change of heart? You seemed fine with it a minute ago” Sarah questioned, putting Mom on the spot again.

Now that Mom knew Lucy was in the loop she seemed to consider bringing it up at the table but you could see her hesitate as she looked at Sarah. Lucy didn’t seem to have the same restriction however.

“Well if you want to invite one of Max’s sluts then I say go for it” Lucy responded, making Mom go wide-eyed.

“Lucy Cooper!” Mom exclaimed, only using the surname when she was really angry.

“What? You were thinking it as well” Lucy shot back.

“I-I was not! Even if she is… intimate with Max, you have no right to use profanities like that towards her” Mom argued, surprised that Lucy would even suggest that.

“Well, what would you call her then?” Lucy questioned, asking for a better title.

“Certainly not that. She’s his… She’s…” Mom attempted to reply, looking to you when she couldn’t find the right word.

“One of my mistresses” you joked back, hearing a noise from Sarah who tried to contain a laugh.

Even Lucy had a smile on her face after you said that line but given that she was the one getting in trouble, you gladly turned your attention back to your food and let Mom and Lucy fight it out.

“Well, Miss Ryan…Rebecca deserves more than the insinuating name that you just gave her. I expect you to be on your best behaviour when she comes round and just count yourself lucky that I don’t make you apologise to her in person” Mom declared, angrily cutting up some of her food as she considered the conversation over.

“Whatever” Lucy murmured, only loud enough for you to hear next to her.

It looked like Sarah wanted to confirm that Rebecca was indeed invited over and when that would actually be but given that Mom wasn’t looking too pleased, she decided to hang fire.

To try and liven up the atmosphere, you asked if any of them had any weekend plans while you were gonna be away but you were met with short responses. It seemed they either had nothing planned or weren’t willing to divulge at the dinner table so that topic died as quickly as it began.

You did go into a bit more detail about what you planned to do with Grace and Emma over the weekend while you were away but you couldn’t mention the main reason for going, spying on your father and it turned out that Grace had already been round to speak with your mother during the day. Again, that talking point only lasted a short while before the table became silent again, making you have to think of something further to say when nobody else seemed to want to speak up.

Just as you tried to find a topic, Mom seemed to have not gotten over Lucy’s earlier outburst and raised her head with a determined look in her eye. You saw from her expression that she had settled on something internally and hoped that it wouldn’t become anything bad that you would need to plan around.

“I would like to put forward a new family rule” Mom declared, your interest now piqued.

There were only four new rules so far and you would have put up a noteboard with them on if the content hadn’t been as private but with Grace coming over to see Mom while she was still out of the loop, you decided against it. The first 3 being rules you wanted to enact; being able to ask for a subject’s underwear whenever you wanted at home, making clothing optional, and then making it so anyone could masturbate anywhere at home if they chose to. All 3 had miraculously passed and then Sarah added a fourth rule to make rules reversible under set conditions, which also passed unanimously.

Mom was met with no additional comments after she waited, so while she was still on a roll, she started to put forward her new rule before she lost her momentum.
