The shoe drops

The two women walked into the police station built inside the subway station. There were two people sitting there. One an obvious trans woman the other wearing a subway worker uniform with ice over their eye.

“Excuse me…” she said to the officer sitting at the desk “I’m Amanda Lake… I was told about my husband…”

“Oh… right… he’s in a lot of trouble.” The officer said. “He got into a fight with that woman and when the conductor intervened and well… the detective will explain it better…”

You moved to sit down, the only seats next to the conductor.

“Um… hi… I’m the Lake’s neighbor… on Amanda’s behalf I’d like to apologize…”

“You don’t need to… I knew this would happen some day…” the conductor said.

“What happened.”

“Pat Robinson in there came storming up to me at my cab, demanding I remove Hannah here from my train. Saying she was an affront to God and all that usual BS. When I told him no, he got in my face. When I told him I’m also a trans woman, he freaked out and punched me right in the face.”

She sighed as she adjusted the ice on her black eye.

“I never understood why people come to this city and expect us to follow THEIR way of doing things. Still… you’re not going to see him for a long time.”

“Why’s that?”

“More important than being trans myself” she explained “I’m a civil servant. Assaulting me on duty is an automatic 7 years in jail.”

“THIS TIME YOU WENT TO FAR!!! I’m leaving you Frank. Rot in jail and rot in hell you bastard!” Amanda screened as she walked out the room and out the door.

“Nice meeting you…” you said to the conductor as you jumped up and followed Amanda out.
