Dahlia and Alide read Advanced Fantasy by Iam_DickMan

"You know it's a bit weird that the Masochist Mode entry didn't speculate what branch we're supposed to follow, but Marcie and Gina were apparently supposed to follow a specific branch," Dahlia comments.

"I assume that rule goes for us as well anyways, unless it doesn't, but I suppose for now we follow the same branch and if we learn later we didn't have too we can try other branches," Alide responds.

Both women are seated at a table in a strange room. The table is made of a strange black rock material and looks extremely uncomfortable with lots of jagged unsmoothed edges that it would be very easy to accidentally catch yourself on, both on the surface of the table and around the edge, Dahlia in fact seems to be idly playing with an incredibly jagged piece pointing straight up from the surface of the table, pressing her finger lightly against a pointed section. She applies pressure slowly and then pulls back once the piece starts to break the skin. Alide is leaning away from the table as best she can in her chair. The chairs are made out of simple iron supports with a backing and seat made out of a disturbingly fleshy fabric. The walls of the room are disturbingly organic, pulsing and writhing every few seconds as various bits that look almost like they might be arms or other appendages of living beings stretch out from the walls and then are pulled back in.

The floor is made out of a material that looks like glass, a purple light glows within and is in fact the only illumination in the room, casting all the aforementioned features and the two women in dim purple light, similar to the effect one gets when one shines a flashlight on ones face from below. "you don't think it's a bad idea, giving readers a sneak peek of the next floor do you?" Alide asks suddenly as she swipes a hand through the air, the story they're reading, appearing as if a mystical approximation of a computer screen was before them.

"What's it going to do? Them knowing what it looks like doesn't help them deal with anything in it," Dahlia responds and then giggles, "I'm glad more of my nature has been revealed though so I can be my true self now," Dahlia says stretching her arms above her head.

"Yes, you're true... utter bitch of a self," Alide responds as she seems to be searching for the proper start of the story.

"Psh... You have a servility fetish..." Dahlia responds with a grin.

"And? My fetish for providing accommodation and comfort for others, especially those of lower status than myself is not something I'm ashamed of!" Alide responds and Dahlia raises a hand to her lips to stifle a giggle.

"You're cute when you're mad you know," Dahlia states leaning forward onto the table, not seemingly caring as the jagged surface digs into her arms and breasts as they press onto the rough surface.

"Enough flirting for now, our status may have been made slightly more clear to the point that sexual relations between us would not in fact be ****, but we are here to perform a service, not to indulge in pleasure," Alide states with a huff and then glances at Dahlia, "er... the table seems to be damaging your clothes a bit," she adds.

Dahlia giggles again, "I know and honestly the readers would probably prefer to see us have some fun than read some story," she says and presses herself harder against the table, the cutting edges, slicing into her bra without damaging the soft, ebony skin underneath. "-Today we're reading Advanced Fantasy by Iam_DickMan!" Alide announces.

"I'm aware," Alide states without pause before beginning to read.

READING IN PROGRESS (BGM)

"Isn't... 'a young man about to discover his destiny' the way Homestuck started?" Dahlia asks suddenly, interrupting the reading barely a few words in.

"Not quite, but it is close. Honestly it's a fairly generic starting line, but at the same time I'm willing to give it a pass here," Alide answers.

"Why?" Dahlia presses, sensing there's more to this.

"Okay so hear me out. Choosing a human in a story like this is the most generic possible option, the character is named Arthur which due to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is basically now shorthand for, uninteresting everyman character in any kind of sci-fi or fantasy story... King Arthur not withstanding," Alide explains.

"I see where you're going with this I think... You're saying this is all intentional," Dahlia surmises.

"That's my hope at least. The following lines about his incredibly mundane life up to this point seem to strengthen that possibility. I think we're getting an everyman story. A mundane non-special individual being thrust into a special world which he doesn't understand and through him we will be experiencing and learning about this world," Alide states confidently.

"It is a little weird though since the story takes place in a world where presumably most of what we'll encounter should be commonplace," Dahlia counters.

"I mean yes, but presuming that our protagonist didn't interact with the more fantastical elements of the world much before this point, it still works. A story about a person who lives below the poverty line, suddenly becoming a millionaire and having to live and move in the new circles and avenues that opens for them, is still a story about a person being thrust into a different world than the one they were used to, even if technically the existence of all these things are a known aspect to the world beforehand. It's the character's experiences and knowledge that matters not the world's" Alide defends.

"I mean I suppose. I guess we'll see as we go forward," Dahlia surrenders.

"I may have been a bit hasty..." Alide suggests after a bit of reading.

"Perhaps a bit," Dahlia agrees with a grin.

"It does seem like the more fantastical elements are fully integrated into this world. I do think we are still going to be getting the basic version of the everyman story, but I might have been a bit incorrect on the nature of it," she admits.

"Yeah... the guys work acquaintances with a troll and people take Centaur cabs to work, this is a fully integrated society. Also mention of Avernus instead of the more general hell and the comment on alignment charts and the idea that alignments are just an actual in universe thing, makes it pretty clear that this story is set pretty definitely in the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy system, probably not any specific setting, but just that sort of core setting," Dahlia adds.

"Well I've never heard of Tieflings outside of D&D or D&D based things, so if the first page hadn't made the core setting abundantly clear, the next page certainly did with the introduction of his Tiefling supervisor," Alide states.

"Mordam, the patron saint of technology seems to potentially be an invention for this story, probably a side effect of the advanced technological age of the setting, I was sort of hoping it would be an evolution of an existing character, but no... unless I missed something," Dahlia says seeming a bit disappointed.

"The first whiff of the sexual nature of this story arrives with this Tiefling Supervisor character who is strangely unnamed by the protagonist, he describes her race, appearance, personality and age and later appreciates her appearance, but does not think to comment on her actual identity at any point... An oversight by the author or a comment on our protagonist?" Alide comments.

"Probably just the oversight," Dahlia responds.

"The ring will probably actually be important, but I do like the idea that it's just a cameo and this random IT worker just happened to find and pick up the One Ring from Lord of the Rings and never addresses it again," Alide giggles as she imagines the scenario.

"Oh a picture! Cute Orc lady! Hey... There are Orcs in the Tower right?" Dahlia asks and Alide sighs.

"You already know there are..." Alide responds with a glance at Dahlia.

"God I could definitely go for a good Orc pounding. Big Strong Green Hands holding me tightly as they just ravish me..." Dahlia says with a blissful sigh.

"You can go visit the Orcs when we're done, for now we're still busy," Alide admonishes her.

"I know I know..." Dahlia relents, "God you are just a buzzkill you know?"

"Speaking of this Orc lady though, she appears to be an intentional break from type, being seemingly somewhat shy and submissive, mostly because she appears to be a new temporary hire assigned to help our protagonist. The concept of a meek, shy Orc isn't novel by any means, but I always appreciate playing against type. Though I should note she also doesn't get any sort of proper introduction, even though Arthur did introduce himself. Actually thinking about it so far we don't know the names of any character, but Arthur,"

"Literally the first thing that happens on the next page is they comment on the fact she didn't introduce herself and she's introduced as Kira..." Dahlia states with a grin.

"Shush... I don't read ahead... Okay so she does get introduced and Arthur did specifically ask for her name... I guess the supervisor and the troll just weren't important enough to get named... at least not yet... Also the ring has immediately come back into play dashing my hopes for a comedic one off appearance, but I can hardly blame the writer for that," Alide admits.

"Oh... It's a ring of dominate mind... A seemingly sentient or possessed ring of dominate mind... Okay so this is about to become a mind control **** story, huh?" Dahlia asks.

"Probably... Not my favourite, but I don't hate it, just think it's overdone... We'll see where it goes from here," Alide says, waving her hand dismissively and then swearing as her arm movement causes her elbow to bump part of the jagged table, "Fucking piece of... God I hate this table," she mutters and Dahlia chuckles.

"Yep almost immediately mild mannered Arthur takes this opportunity to grope her and rewire her brain into loving him and wanting to fuck him, clearly this immediately makes him a scumbag, but at the same time, I do not automatically hate him as a character for it. There is the potential that the ring is somehow affecting his mind and it is also possible that this was a one time thing and he will feel remorse for it. An act done in the moment. Also if he does end up being a hateable **** mindfucker, that's not necessarily a bad thing anyway, after all our author also wrote Doom who is a ****, mind dominating murderer, so it would be somewhat hypocritical for us to be angry that other people have characters who are hateable assholes, the important factors are whether it's intentional and whether it remains interesting. We will see," Alide states.

"I mean... I'd grope this cute Orc lady too if I had the chance. Her breasts seem like they'd be real firm, but still soft..." Dahlia states, licking her lips.

"When is the last time you've had sex?" Alide asks suddenly.

"This morning," Dahlia responds with a giggle and Alide sighs.

"You know it just occurred to me, if Orcs and Trolls and other larger creatures exist in this setting as a normal thing, you think office chairs would just generally be made more durable to support them... Although then again, durable office chairs probably cost more than consistently replacing cheaper ones, ah... capitalism..." Dahlia adds.

"Shiny new body..." Alide reads the words aloud, "I don't know why that sentence is amusing to me, but it is," she comments.

"Heh... Perfectly shaped boobs... Just like mi-" Dahlia starts and gets interrupted again.

"- and it seems like Arthur is about to fully embrace the **** inside of him since he's put her back in a trance. Time for the full course perhaps?" Alide questions.
