Better Odds

"Eric, be real with me. What are our chances?" Myla asks me.

"Not good but could be worse. That last attack used up most of my mana. I'm down to about a third of it. But the others should be able to handle, or at least, keep the other Devils busy." I answer.

"Okay, good. So any ideas you two?" Hino asks and Myla and I shake our heads no.

"We'll just improvise." I tell her and the Devil of Temptation jumps in the air. He uses his wings to go up about 50 feet. Once he stops he turns to us and puts his arms in a X shape in front of his face. He uses his wings to dive down straight at us. He starts getting covered in a red energy and speeds up. I cast Ancient Beast Slash and send it at him. He spreads his wings out and veers to the side to dodge it. He then continues his dive, however his dodge made him lose a lot of momentum.

"Split up!" I shout quickly and we all run on different directions as he crashes into the ground. He creates a cloud of dust and debris around him. I start thinking of a plan when suddenly I hear someone whistle from my left. I turn and see my gramps standing a few feet away. He tosses me a small vial right before the Devil of Strength appears next to him. My gramps turns to him and they each punch each other as I catch the vial. They each knock each other back and I look at the vial. It's filled with a glowing blue liquid. I immediately recognize it as a vial of liquid mana. I try to drink it but the Devil of Temptation charges me from the dust cloud. I store it in my inventory for now and block. I feel his claws run against mine but he doesn't cut into mine. I try to kick him but he uses his wings to jump back. He suddenly gets hit from behind and all I see is water splash around him.

He turns to face them and I rush him from behind. Instead of trying to attack, I grab his left wing. I pull on it and dig my claws into it before pulling and cutting five long cuts along it.

He shouts in pain and turns to attack me. I Blink away and he charges me again. Myla swings her blade down on him and he stops to block. I charge him and see Hino do the same from the other side. Before we can attack he suddenly shouts and surrounds himself in the same red energy from earlier. I jump back and see the others did the same. The energy fades away and I see Kagiyama and Kallen get knocked to the ground near us. Sugano quickly follows and the Golden Devil lands next to the Devil of Temptation.

"What happened to your wing?" He taunts and the Devil of Temptation scoffs. Before he can answer the Devil of Strength gets tossed at them and they catch him. The others stand up and my gramps appears next to me.

"This doesn't look good." He says and I see his hand is twisted around. The Devil of Temptation spreads his arms and I see the Golden Devil holding Strength back.

"Do you see now Eric? You have no chance at winning so just come with us willingly and we'll stop here!" He says and reaches out for me.

"Any ideas in that big brain of yours?" My gramps asks and I remember a spell I've never used before.

"Maybe, but it's risky. I've never used this spell before." I answer and he laughs.

"Those are the the best kind of plans!" He says patting me on my back. "So what does it do?"

"No idea, just stand back, to be safe." I answer and walk to the Devils. I stop about ten feet away and see Myla and Hino start to join me. I reach out and motion for them to stop. They look at me confused and a little scared and angry. I smile and turn to the Devils.

"So you've made your choice." The Devil of Temptation states, not asking.

"Yeah, I'm gonna fight." I say quickly taking the vial of liquid mana out in front of my mouth and bite it, carful to only bite down on the plastic cap and not the glass. I swallow the liquid and spit the vial out before the Devil of Strength scoffs and steps forward.

"What do you think that'll do aside from making you sleepy? What spell do you have that will help you now?" He asks clearly upset and wanting to finish this. He lifts me up by my Chestplate and I smile.

"Oh not much. I'm just going to call on a friend of mine." I say before casting Summon Bergeth. I feel my mind getting pulled away. The last thing I see before losing consciousness is a bright brown energy consuming me and the Devil of Strength jumping away.
