Chapter 144 by CaptainPulse

What does she see?

A crab big enough to ride

In the distance, sidestepping its way towards their island, was a bright crimson crab. Its massive claws clicked as it crawled along the sandy beach, seemingly patrolling for food. As Hilda saw the giant creature meander closer to them, she had two ideas: one risky and one almost doomed to fail. Were they to simply run away, the crab, much better suited for traversing the sand than they were, would most likely catch and eat them. The other option had risks, but they could get themselves to solid ground if they did things right.

Hilda turned to Tina and smiled. "I've got a plan."

Tina's eyes drifted over to the crab, and a worried expression crossed her face. "Please don't tell me it has anything to do with that thing."

Hild knelt down and gathered the last usable bits of the twine she'd been carrying with her. Waving her hands above her head, the tiny knight yelled, "Hey, big guy! We've got a couple of snacks over here for you!"

"What are you doing?!" Tina hissed, hiding behind her mother.

"Getting us a ride." Hilda cupped her hands around her mouth. "I said hey, doofus! Are you worried I'll make a nice meal out of you?! Come on!" The crab's eyestalks twitched slightly as it turned in their direction. Hilda continued to scream as the crustacean started to walk toward their rock. Hilda, smiling, knelt down and threaded the roll of twin through the hole in her needle.

Tina stepped back, her heel reaching the edge of the sand. "Mom, we should run. We can make it up the sand on our own. Please, I don't want to be eaten by a crab."

"Come now, Tina. You're a knight, a protector of justice. Even at 6 inches tall, a lowly crab shouldn't be a problem." Hilda looked out at the crab, which was hustling toward them at a surprising pace. She handed the end of the twine to Tina and took a single step backward. Her grip tightened, and her butt cheeks clenched, showing off her muscles beneath her softer skin.

As the crab approached the edge of the rock and raised its claw in an attack, Hilda took action. She threw the needle under the crab's undercarriage and pulled on the rope, tying the end around its leg. The crab fell to the ground as its leg gave out from under it, and Hilda started to climb onto its back, grabbing her "sword" on the way. As she reached the top of the beast, she tried to stick the needle into its head, but its shell proved too hard.

Tina watched in awe at her mother's feats of strength. She's heard about her tales of knighthood in her younger days but had never seen any of them up close. By the time she was born, Hilda had mostly left that life behind in lieu of a leisurely sedentary life at the keep. Seeing her own mother be so heroic at such a disadvantage started to remind Tina of why she had wanted to follow in her footsteps.

"Tina!" Hilda yelled from atop the crab. Tina was broken from her stupor to see her mother pointing at the ground, where the other end of the rope lay. "Tie the crab up! We need a rein to-" As Hilda yelled, she suddenly felt the crab start to writhe below her as it stood up. Its cracked leg fell off as it stood up fully, reaching up to snap its claws at Hilda. The tiny knight ducked and weaved out of its grasp, pointing at Tina, or rather the twine in her hands.

Finally putting things together, Tina snapped into action, grabbing the stray end of the rope and running underneath the crab. As it writhed above her, Tina lay on her back, ignoring the gravelly feeling of sand in her butt, and tied the ends of the twine together.

Meanwhile, Hilda continued to strike at the crab's hard armor with her needle, unable to pierce its hide. Had she a real weapon, this might have been easier, but now was no time for excuses. As the crab went in for another swipe, Hilda struck down with as much **** as her tired little body could muster... and finally broke a small crack in the crab's shell. The needle didn't go very far in, certainly not enough to reach the crab's fleshy body beneath, but it was enough. "Tina, how are we doing?!" She yelled to her daughter.

Tina slid out from under the crab, her nude body covered from head to toe in sand, and gave her mother a thumbs-up. Hilda reached down and pulled her daughter on top of the crab. "What now?" Tina asked, a little worried but so full of adrenaline that it almost didn't matter.

"Now?" Hilda gripped the needle. "Now, we ride!" She pulled back on the needle as Tina wrapped her arms around her mother's waist, blushing as her intimate bits brushed against her back. The crab reared back and swung its claws wildly, trying to free itself from the twine. As Hilda pulled the needle hard to the right, the crab turned slightly to the right and started scuttling along the sand.

The two women had made a little vehicle for themselves out of the predator. While Hilda pulled the needle in every direction to steer the crab toward the dirt at the edge of the shore, Tina held tight to the twine to keep it from breaking. Their little ramshackle ride wasn't the safest thing in the world, but they would take function over form for now. As they approached the dirt road at the edge of town, the two naked women thought that their luck might be looking up for once.

Of course, that was when they saw it.

What is "it"?
