Neir is nursed back to health.
It takes some time, but slowly, Neir is brought up to full form.
Over the course of a few weeks, Neir also ingratiates herself with the family. Her story is that she is a wandering warrior, an exile from her clan who wanders the land in search of a true purpose. She says to Jace, "Maybe, I've found it in your daughter." It's a good tale and like all good lies, has a kernel of truth in it. She tells Jace that she is sworn to you now and will act as your guardian for as long as you need it. It's almost adorable, the way she dedicates herself to you.
During the day, Jace trains you. You are schooled in swordplay, chivalry and even some minor magic. It's nothing that you don't already know, but you have to learn it again in order to blend in. After all, what would a simple harbor girl like yourself know about these things?
It is a challenge to be sure.
Neir often assists Jace in these lessons. The old man is happy to have the help. He even learns a few things himself. This goes a long way in establishing trust between you and Jace. You can feel the pride he has for you. You even begin to gain a sort-of respect for him. He is a good man, for a mortal anyway.
But the nights could not be any different. They are spent in many different ways, all of them with Neir. Some nights you sneak out of the house and explore, venturing into the dark and grimy parts of town that Mell is definably not allowed to go. Nights spent in sin, experimenting with drugs and other strange substances. Entertaining the company of dangerous people.
Other nights, Neir crawls through your window and you spend hours exploring each others bodies. These nights are your favorites...
And some nights...
Well, those are another matter altogether.
