Starfire and Raven

Supermom was out of the house, the Metropolis police fleeing from the obvious metahuman threat. Guns were pointed at Lois, and she didn't like that...but she was also worried about stray shots. This was, after all, a family neighborhood. Some kids could get hurt. So the gravid super began to defy gravity....

...only to be faced with a streak of fire across the sky.

Lois Lane hovered in mid-air, her violet eyes narrowed...and just like that, her vision zoomed in on the growing figure. Bright orange skin, a purple uniform that was little more than a bikini, her long, fiery red hair fading into an actual trail of fire behind her. In her work as a reporter, Lois recognized her: Starfire, of the Titans. An alien princess and powerhouse, especially now that she was out of her teenage years, like the other adult Titans... The reporter paused in mid-air as the alien approached, and deadly energy flared around her hands and from her green eyes..

"Halt, evildoer!" Starfire declared. "Cease your villainy and...X'hal! You are enormous!"

The alien had halted within about five feet of the reporter's enormous belly, and the reporter stared at her oddly. The last words Starfire had spoken had been in an entirely different tone, and as she hovered closer, the energy auras vanished and the orange hands raised themselves up.

"Can I touch it?" Starfire asked, her eyes fixed on the reporter's swollen stomach.

"You may," Supermom said, and relaxed slightly as the orange fingers pressed into the taut skin.

"X'hal!" Starfire said again, as her fingers moved over the reporter's stomach, as though trying to count. "How many are there?"

"A dozen," Lois said proudly.

Below them, the cops muttered to themselves without understanding...and then a dark figure in a purple cloak and hood stalked past them. Lois turned her head to look at the newcomer as Starfire continued her fascinated exam.

Ten feet from where Lois and Starfire floated, the stranger seemed to step on air...and floated slowly upward. A gray face was framed in that hood as she drew level with Lois, though she kept her distance. Lois saw a thin gray face, a red gem on the forehead, dark hair...and a name came to her.

"You're Raven, aren't you?" Lois smiled. "I'm Supermom. I think there's been a little misunderstanding..."

At the pregnant woman's smile, beads of perspiration burst out on Raven's forehead.

"S-s-star," Raven said. "She's...got some kind of aura. I'm trying to fight it, but you need to get out of here. It's very...powerful."

"But friend Raven!" Starfire said obliviously. "Is not her gravidity amazing? I have never known any woman so pregnant! It is like being in the presence of a fertility goddess..."

"That's the problem, Star!" Raven said, and the wind whipped her cloak about her, so that Lois saw that the young woman clutched herself tightly. "Her power...it's affecting us. We need...we need..."

Lois Lane smiled. Instinct struck her. She knew exactly what both these ladies needed.
