I walked home, wincing at the burning that now emanated from my upper arms and thighs. Lisa’s workout had been intense, and my body was now paying the price for my exertions.

I opened my front door and I could tell, from the discarded shoes and briefcase by the door, that Nadine had finished work early and must be home. “Hey, Nads, you home?!” I yelled down the corridor, assuming that she would be in the kitchen grabbing another bitter coffee to help her through her day.

“Yeah,” she replied, her voice muffled by the distance between us, “I’m in the kitchen.”

I headed into the room and was greeted by the sight of my sister sitting on a stool by the breakfast bar, her back was to me and her sunken shoulders and general demeaner was one of defeat.

“What’s the matter sis?” I asked, concerned.

“That bloody client from last night,” she sighed in frustration. “Because he wasn’t able to get me drunk, and because I wouldn’t let him into my panties, he’s cancelled the contract and made a complaint to my boss!”

I took the stool next to her, placing my arm over her shoulders and stroking her soft skin.

“Shit,” I began, “what an absolutely pathetic asshole.”

“I know, right?” she huffed. “As if I’d let some balding fat bastard like that lay a hand on me.”

I stood up and headed to the other side of the table.

“Want me to give him the old one-two?” I asked, punching the air and parodying a boxer.

She giggled and looked up at me smiling.

“You?” she smiled. “Since when have you been interested in fighting?”

“Since I started going to the gym,” I stated, grinning at the clear shock that her face showed.

“The gym? You?” and at this she laughed more. “You’re joking, right?”

“No,” I said, smiling as the look of shock returned to her face, “I’ve even got a personal trainer.”

“Really?” she was still shocked, her mouth hanging open between words. I couldn’t help but think about what it would be like to have those lips wrapped around my cock.

“Yeah,” I opened my wallet and pulled out my membership to show her.

She snatched it from my hands, staring at it in disbelief.

“Holy shit,” she smiled, handing it back to me, “you’ll be telling me you’ve gotten a job next.”

“Well, kind of,” I said, thinking quickly about how I should say this, “I’m more a sort of self-employed freelancer.”

Her jaw dropped and she looked at me with the same look one would give to someone who just proved the existence of aliens.

“You? A freelance what?” she asked incredulously.

“Writer,” I responded by instinct, “I’ve been writing for a little while in my spare time and I recently started ghost writing for a more popular author.”

She stared at me with a look that I had never seen before, a look of pride.

“You kept that quiet little bro.”

“Well, I wouldn’t be much of a ghost writer if everybody knew about it, would I?” I replied, inwardly congratulating myself on my quick thinking.

“What genre?” she said, her eyes lighting up with genuine interest.

“Erotica,” I blurted out, hoping that the taboo would get her to stop prying.

She grinned wolfishly at me as my discomfort became apparent to her.

“No wonder you kept it quiet,” she said, “perv.”

Her smirking face radiated her pleasure at my now reddening cheeks.

She got up from the seat, heading towards the doorway to the hall.

“You’ll have to let me read some sometime,” she called over her shoulder as she headed out of the room.

I stood there for a while mulling over the conversation. It could have gone worse I supposed, but there was a niggling, intrusive thought that kept running through my mind. Just why would Nadine want to read erotica written by her pervy little brother?
