Chapter 16 by Yabusa Yabusa

End the competition? Or do you have another idea?

Round 3: Tricking your pet into friendship!

"I do get to add in a custom event to the competition, right? I believe that was part of the rules."

Sabel pouted, but nodded. "I don't know what else the dog could do to win. I'm trying so hard you know, and Ollie is just sort of... being normal! But, I guess... what is the thing you want us to do?"

You smirked a little, for the briefest moment. Now was when you could enact your master plan. "Well, you really are so far the best at everything. But, there's one other thing about being human and using Tori: and that's being responsible. So, to figure out who should spend time using Tori's body, I want to see how you will take care of the adult responsibilities of taking care of a dog."

Time seemed to freeze as Sabel stopped moving, looking down at you with almost shocked eyes. She glanced over at Ollie, who peered up at Sabel and yourself while curled up in her bed, and then she looked back. "You can't be serious, you want me to... help Ollie? My biggest nemesis? The one taking up all your attention lately?"

You nodded. "Ollie needs to be fed and walked, the cast can handle it and it'll help her fully recover. So, if you want to really impress me, it'll be by being compassionate."

Sabel closed her eyes, inhaling sharply through her nose, before she opened them again, looking determined. "I will show you that I am the most compassionate person! Fine. I'll go put on some clothes I guess. And then I'll show you that I can walk the gross dog." Sabel squinted at Ollie, before she slid off your lap, jogging to the bedroom again. A few minutes later, she walked back out in some of Tori's typical outdoorsy clothes, holding a leash in her hands. "So, what do I do with--"

Almost immediately, Ollie hopped up and bounded as quickly as she could to Sabel, despite the cast. Sabel almost jumped back as an excited Ollie almost ran circles around Sabel's legs. "W-what is this? Is this really that exciting for a dog?" She almost regretted accepting your challenge, it seemed, but her defenses were slowly crumbling, as she couldn't help but chuckle a little at the rather adorable display from the border collie.

"She likes this sort of activity, being able to go out and just roam. Just clip it to the collar and go around the block, and then I'll know just how good you are at being the responsible one, as well as the most athletic and beautiful." You did what you could to butter Sabel up with your words, encouraging her to follow through with her promise. Clipping the leash to Ollie's collar, Sabel looked at you one last time, slightly unsure of herself in the moment. It was rather strange, given that Tori had plenty of experience with animals, but she might be purposely holding back that experience to ensure Sabel behaved as authentically as possible. But then the two were out the door, as Ollie tugged Sabel forward energetically despite the cast on her front leg.

You watched for a little bit out of your front window, but you didn't worry too much about the two of them. If Sabel was like a student driver in that human body, Tori had the ability to hit the brakes and take over, so nothing too crazy could happen when out and about. They walked for nearly a half hour, before you heard them reenter through the front door.

"Everything go well?" You asked, watching the duo return.

Sabel knelt down, reaching for the collar. "It could've been worse, I guess..." she hadn't been prepared for Ollie to excitedly lick at her face after being treated to a walk, almost tumbling over as the border collie showed Sabel some genuine affection in a way that caught Sabel entirely off-guard!

Tori leaned against you on the couch as night set in, sipping a mug of cocoa while you two watched an episode of a reality show called A Ranged Marriage, where a person had to choose between multiple people for who to marry but all the candidates were standing so far away that they had to yell questions and answers at each other. She nudged you, looking over at the dog bed. "I think that last challenge did the trick."

You looked over as well, seeing Ollie curled up on her bed, with Sabel resting on top of her. Tori's presence really did seem to accelerate these sorts of recoveries and friendships--maybe now the animals would be acclimated to one another and there could be some peace and quiet around the house.

Tori kissed your cheek. "That was fun, though. I don't think we've ever tossed frisbees with each other. Honestly, though, each of them are certainly a mood, huh? You don't have to pick a winner, but if you wanted, you could still pick one of them for slipping under the covers later, if you want... I know both of them would be happy to do that, since I know I would. It depends if you want someone a little shy, or if you want me to be a little too confident in myself."

You chuckled a little, pondering your options.

Which takes Tori's body for the night?
