How does Malrick respond?
Not his business.
Yes, yes he could just leave her. It wasn't his problem, he didn't care. What sort of person was he? The sort who minded their own business. Besides, it's not like any of the other folk are jumping up to help her.
He wasn't a bad person, he was just average. Being average is fine. It's how he grew up. Sure he was a Swordsman and an adventurer, but what did that truly matter. He was just average at that too. Why go out of his way to help the girl and ruin his perfectly good night of drinking. As he took another sip from his mug, he felt a tap on his shoulder.
He turned to see the girl standing behind him with pleading eyes, "Um, excuse me sir, but you look like the adventuring sort. I would appreciate your help, I can pay you. What do you say?"
Really, this girl had walked up to him specifically and offered him money. Well, he couldn't refuse now, could he? I mean, before he wasn't involved, now he was. But she involved him, he has the right to turn her down. It's what anyone would do right? Well, an average amount of people anyway.
Even if it made him a worse person, did he truly care?
