As above, so below

Looking at Augment Mind, it gave me two possibilities, both slightly vague. What's an 'mental construct', and how is that different from an emotion? To contrast, Augment Body didn't have that kind of vagueness at first. After all, size is size is size. But my own experience showed there was some difficulty. Is an arm a body part? Or is it a collection of hand, forearm, arm, and so on? The answer is actually yes to both. Thus, more drastic changes could be made by starting from the gross structure and working down.

The distinction between those two possibilities of Augment Mind proved somewhat similar. Emotions were a general state, while a mental construct was essentially a set of feelings that serve a purpose. The difference between general lust and desire for me, as an easy example I experimented on. Pondering that exact distinction is what have me the idea.

You see, a change in size doesn't necessarily serve a purpose, just like an emotion doesn't. Sure, a larger claw might help with grinding through more ground-but not as much as a generally more powerful arm behind it would. And larger doesn't necessarily mean stronger without a lot of structure to back it up. So, what if Augment Body could be improved for more purposeful changes, as well? Through the whole night, insensate mates-whether they be breeders or just the bovine toys-became subject to my search, trying something less consequential, amplifying the milky production of their chests without enlarging them. Would have tried fertility, but my horrific virility frankly had far more say in the matter than anything their own bodies could manage. I set about it by casting it like normal-and then refocusing the energies of the casting at the last moment to try and concentrate the energy of growth.

This preoccupied me until a bit after dawn, when those with more traditional metabolisms had finally started to stir. Victory came as a rush-both the mundane surge of accomplishment, as well as the more exotic surge of knowledge that comes with a new skill. Or Improving an old one in some significant way. What exactly happened was a bit of an in between for those. Unsurprisingly, a Skill Evolution left it at the bottom of level five-but now it had more room to grow again, and a new name and slightly modified effect to boot.

Augment Physiology(Spell)(Level5)-Increase or decrease size of target body part, or a physiological property, of touched target by up to 5%. Max of 5% per level changes can be made to one aspect. Limit tracked separately for, and doubled for, critical casts.

And with the satisfied feeling of a job well done, I'm more ready to face this day for the next part I have planned. Logistics seem to be roughly working out, given how most of my children are produced to help keeping the rest fed. Might have gone a bit overboard-but better safe than dealing with malcontent and hungry monsters without my peculiar mind behind them.
