Stockholm Syndrome

The next couple weeks brought with it relatively little in the way of changes for Carol. She had long given up even trying to call May. Knowing her luck, she was bound to not even answer.

"I can only hope she's alright." Carla thought and got up out of bed. Letting out a yawn, she heard no sound. Looking around, her gaze came upon her hearing aids. Setting those back in, all the sounds of the nursing home came flooding back in. Cracking a smile, she cleared her throat. "Good morning, me."

Compared to when she had gotten in, Carla could tell her voice sounded genuinely like an elderly lady. While normally not something one would really celebrate, it felt like an accomplishment in her book. She was that much closer to being Ms Carla Davis. Though, it would perhaps if she had a clear idea of who Ms Davis was in the first place. But she let that thought fade for now. It wasn't worth thinking about right now. Especially ahead of breakfast.

"I wonder what they're making today?" Carla thought as she got dressed. While all the meals tasted the same, something about Elizabeth made things better. She couldn't figure out what it was that did it for her, nor did she intend too. At her age, it was far easier to just take things for what they were. At least, that was what the elderly lady told herself. Staring into the mirror, Carla was met with a modest floral outfit perfect for an elderly lady like her. Specks of gray had begun to naturally invade her head, giving even more credence to her look. She had debated dying it all, but Carla decided to hold out for now. At least until even more gray hairs came in.

Pulling her gaze away, Carla exited the room.
