Oculus Mentis Imperium

Fortunately for Harry, once he found the correct book, looking for the spell, its incantation, and the theory behind it was easy.

The spell was called Hypnotic Gaze, and its incantation was Oculus Mentis Imperium. Reading the description of the spell’s effects, Harry found that the caster uses the spell on themselves and then once they directly lock eyes with someone, they will put the target into a hypnotic state that is maintained as long as eye contact is made.

Reading further, Harry found that changes to the target’s behavior could be made via verbal instruction and that the more the spell is used on a target, the easier it became to make larger changes in behavior.

The spell also seemed to cause targets in a hypnotic state to truthfully answer questions asked of them. The target would also forget the hypnosis and the few seconds leading up to it.

Pausing for a moment, Harry made up his mind, he repeated the invasion in his mind a few times, ‘Oculus Mentis Imperium, Oculus Mentis Imperium, Oculus Mentis Imperium…’ before crawling under his bed.

Once under his bed, he moved a loose floorboard aside and pulled out an enchanted trunk. Bringing it from underneath the bed, Harry tapped it with his wand causing it to unshrink.

Putting his finger on the lock, he felt a prick on his finger, before the blood lock clicked open allowing him access to his hidden library trunk. Storing the tomes in the Dark Magic section of his trunk, Harry closed the lid and heard it lock again.

Tapping it once more, the trunk shrank, and Harry crawled underneath his bed to place it back into its hiding spot and moved the floorboard into the correct position.
