Chapter 16

He's not the hero we deserve, but the one we need.
Smooth Operator
The remainder of the run goes by without much else of note happening. Her pants reduce to nothing more than a waistband and anklets, and every person we pass goes bug eyed when they see her, but other than that it was just a normal run. We do take a slightly different route though, which takes us directly passed the local gym that Sam part times at. We stop in front of it for a breather, and after a moment, Sam says,
“I hate to cut our run short when you’re doing so well, but this is my stop. I got a shift to cover in a few minutes.” Her words barely even hampered by her slightly ragged breathing. Just how much stamina does this girl have? We must have jogged at least two miles. “You’re more than welcome to come in and work out though. If you think you’re up for it.” She adds.
…… This is a really difficult choice. I didn’t know she had work today, and the idea of her going about her job clad in nothing but a bra, effectively, without even realizing it sounds amazing. On the other hand, I still have 50 gems and other custom girls to spend them on. Possibly even more if our run unlocked any achievements.
Decisions, decisions…
Ultimately, it’s actually an unrelated variable that finalizes my choice.
“As tempting an offer as that is, I’m afraid I can’t. A gym membership isn’t in my budget right now.” I respond.
“That’s fair. Good job today though! Be ready for the next one!” She responds, a hint of disappointment in her voice, I notice, that’s quickly overwhelmed by her encouragement.
“I don’t think anything will fully prepare me for your regiments.” I respond, garnering a few soft chuckles from us both.
“You catch on quick.” She responds, still chuckling.
“I try.”
Our soft laughter slowly subsides, and we both continue to stand there in unmoving silence…
………
……………
Is it just me, or did this get really awkward out of nowhere? Why isn’t she saying goodbye and heading inside? Doesn’t she have to clock in soon? Won’t she be late? Better question though, why aren’t I saying goodbye? The gym membership excuse isn’t the only reason I declined; I have a mission to go on! So why don’t I want to leave? I mean, besides the obvious nakedness in-front of me. Why do I feel like the clothing challenged one here? She’s just continuing to stare at me with a rarely seen gentle smile. Is she expecting a handshake? A flashy exit?... A hug? Are we at that point? I’ve never been able to tell when I’m at that point. My ex didn’t really care for hugs, so I normally got rebuffed in some way. One of the reasons she’s now my ex. Sam’s still staring at me, and… Blushing? Is that a blush? Holy crap, maybe she is wanting a hug. Wait, does she not have a boyfriend? Why haven’t I thought to ask until now?! She’s never mentioned one, I know that, but I’ve also never asked! Okay! Okay! Calm down! A hug doesn’t equal intimate, friends hug all the time. I’m pretty certain we’re friends at this point, so it should be fine, right? Screw it, I’m going for it. The app will bail me out if it goes sou-
“I… Should head in now… Don’t want to be late… I’ll see ya soon?” Sam asks finally breaking eye contact, voice softer than before as she looks slightly down and away.
“…Of-of course! Yes! Looking forward to our next run! Don’t work too hard!” I respond with a little to much **** and not a single voice crack you have no proof.
“You too.”
With that, she opens the door and enters the gym. I stand there for a few moments in silence. Watching her through the glass until she walks out of site. I then power walk over to a nearby light pole, grab hold of it, and start banging my head against it hard enough to imitate smacking a gong.
“STUPID! *Bang* STUPID! *BAng* STUPID! *BANg* STUPID! *BANG* STUPIIIIID!! *BANG!*” I shout, too frustrated to care about the pain or the concerned looks I’m getting.
I rest my head against the pole for a minute, letting the anger die down. Why must I overthink everything?! That was the moment! And I blew it! I had everything going for me and I threw it all away! Way to go Tyler, you continue to be the king of smooth. Long may you reign.
I sigh deeply. Enough of the anger has left for me to think non-destructively. The pain is starting to register now however, but I deserve that. I need a pick me up, in more ways than one; and I know just where to get it. I leave the pole and head out with a purpose, a specific goal in my mind. One that I’ve been secretly wanting ever since I discovered this apps full potential but couldn’t afford. I don’t have many fetishes, voyeur being one with spanking being recently discovered; but there is still one other that is a guilty pleasure of mine. And I fully intend to make it into reality now that I have the means and will to do so.
The door to the café opens, chiming its little bell as it does so, and I enter. I quickly spot Melina at another table receiving a tip as her generous breasts are mauled by the patron. She looks over to me as I enter, beaming her famous smile and waving. I wave back and head over to my regular table. I sit down and take out my phone while I wait for Melina to finish earning her tip. Unsurprisingly, some achievements have been unlocked.
Achievement Unlocked !
Not-So-Private Time: Make a custom girl masturbate for a crowd. 10 gem reward.
What a Horn Dog: Even we can’t explain that one. 10 gem reward.
Pity Party: Please, continue to literally beat yourself up, it amuses us. 5 gem consolation.
…… I’m just gonna ignore that last one… I don’t know what’s more concerning. The fact that the dog isn’t under the succubae’s control, or that they don’t know what’s going on with the strange animal.
Before my logic train can get going down this possibly disturbing path, Melina walks over, having finished with her other customer.
“Hey Tyler! Glad to have you ba-OH MY GOD!!! You’re bleeding! Are you okay?! What happened?!” She screams in a panic, rushing closer to get a better look.
Wait, I’m bleeding? I reach a hand up to my forehead, and it comes back with the sticky red fluid covering my fingers. I stare at my hand for a moment, then back up to Melina.
“… Sorry, could I have a napkin please?” I say, a little bewildered by my injury.
Melina doesn’t even respond; she simply bolts over to the counter and starts rummaging around behind it frantically. I look back to my hand covered in not an insignificant amount of red. Did I really hit myself that hard? Sure, there was pain, but it wasn’t unmanageable. Head wounds do tend to gush, I think. Maybe it just looks worse than it is?
Only a few moments go by before Melina hurries back over, arms full of different medical supplies which she unceremoniously dumps onto the table. Grabbing some damp paper towels, she turns to me and says,
“Hold still.” Completely stone faced and serious.
I’ve never seen this side of Melina before. One of complete calm and unwavering purpose. The control radiating off her, demanding her orders be followed. I’ve only ever seen her as a happy little fairy, how long has she had this badass side of her? Far be it from me to ignore it. I follow her command and stay stock still as she wipes the blood off my face and forehead.
“Are you going to tell me what happened?” She says, her sing song voice somehow incredibly stern.
I get the impression she won’t accept anything but the truth, but I can’t tell her that. Not all of it at least. It’s pathetic, I’ve already gotten a pity party for it and everything.
“I uhhh… Tripped and fell?... Into a pole?” I say, hoping my awkward semi true humor brings enough levity for her to not press further.
She doesn’t respond immediately as she finishes up wiping my face. Putting the damp, now bloody, paper towel down; she then grabs an antiseptic wipe and begins cleaning the wound.
“And how did you manage that?” She finally responds. Voice still calm yet overly stern.
“I-ow! Uhh, went on another run earlier. Guess I went a little overboard. Hehe.” I say, hoping she buys it.
“Hmm…” Is all she says.
Oh god, she knows I’m lying. I can’t take that intense stare of hers! She’s only ever been adorable! I don’t know how to handle this sudden shift to serious!
“Ok ok, you got me-ow! I did something stupid earlier and banged my head against a pole in response.” I say, feeling even more of an idiot.
Melina sets the wipe with the paper towel and grabs some antibiotic ointment, smearing it on my injury without saying anything. Once satisfied with the ointment, she grabs a large bandage and sticks it on the wound before planting a soft kiss to my forehead.
“We all make mistakes. Better to try again and make it right than to hurt yourself.” She says, the sternness completely fading away to gentle caring.
The emotional whiplash of the passed half hour has been so intense I’m surprised my neck hasn’t snapped. Did she seriously just kiss me? Without any app interference?
“... Thanks… For the uh… Cleanup and… uhh… kiss?” I stutter before I can stop myself.
She stares at me for a moment, about to respond but then stops. Her eyes go as wide as saucers and her face begins glowing a full and shining red so bright, I’d swear steam was about to burst out of her ears. Did she… Not realize she kissed my boo boo? There's the adorable little fairy I know and love.
“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry! I’m just so used to doing that for my little siblings I got lost in the work I’ll just go die in a corner now.” She rattles out as fast as she can before turning to run away and hide.
“Melina! Wait!” I say as I quickly grab her by the hand.
I’ve already made one stupid mistake today; I refuse to make another. She looks back to me, her embarrassment still clear but her escape attempt stalled for the moment. I look her in the eyes and say,
“… It’s… It’s ok. Thank you.”
She stares back at me for a moment, seeming to calm down, before looking down to our joined hands. I think her face turns an even deeper shade of red, but she still manages to squeak out,
“You’re welcome…”
I release her hand before it gets too awkward. Proving even an idiot like me is capable of growing. Melina continues to stare at the floor for a few seconds before snapping her attention back up to me.
“Your order! You haven’t ordered yet! Your usual?” She says with a little too much ****.
“… Oh! Yeah! I completely forgot! The usual! Yes! And an egg biscuit please!” I respond, also with a little too much ****. Proving I can always fall back to being awkward no matter how much I grow.
“Coming right up!” Melina says, then turns and walks rigidly back to the counter.
…… I’m just going to go throw these bloody paper towels and stuff away…
That pole totally had it coming.
