Chapter 8 by Storier Storier

What's next for your tests?

Sullivan and Indigo's Relationship.

But seeing Sullivan and Indigo flirting together gives you an idea. And they've had plenty of fun, getting to dance already. Since you've already roped Yu and Pearl into things, and Jane's on the dance floor, it's only fair you turn your focus onto the couple.

You motion for Yu to join you, and you meet the pair in the kitchen behind the counter.

Indigo's sitting on the countertop in her little black dress, her and Sullivan's drinks sitting on the granite surfacing just beside her.

She's smiling with her hands on Sullivan's shoulders. Her boyfriend, meanwhile, leans in close to her with his hands on her waist, smiling right back.

"You know, we've both been 18 now for a while," says Sullivan. "Your parents would never know if we left a little early, so long as we got you back home by 11:00."

Indigo giggles girlishly. "You're so bad, Sully. We can make time for that later - right now I want to spend as much time with our friends as I can," she says. "This is probably the last time we'll all be in the same place together."

"Mmh. It's a point. Maybe even a good one," allows Sullivan. "But what if we went out real quick, and came straight back...?" He kisses Indigo's round cheek, dangerously close to her lips.

Indigo sighs, her body relaxing involuntarily into her boyfriend's. "Sully, people can see us..."

Having seen enough, you step closer and interrupt. "Get a room you two."

Sullivan rolls his eyes and disengages only slightly from Indigo. "You get infinite power and you use it to be a buzzkill?" he asks, in jest.

"Actually," interjects Yu, "Chase is still testing his abilities. Pearl needed a bit of a break, and you two seemed available."

"Pfft. Does this look available to you?" asks Sullivan, before turning and kissing Indigo deeply on the lips.

You feign disgust. "Do you have any idea how many cooties that'll give you?"

Yu stifles a laugh.

Indigo, flustered, pats Sullivan on the shoulder till he stops. "Baby, not in front of everybody...!"

Sullivan chuckles deeply, having eyes only for the beautiful black girl sitting in front of him on the counter. "You know I can't help myself around you."

Indigo blushes, somewhat peeved, but mostly charmed by all the attention.

You turn aside to Yu. "I think I know what I want to claim," you say. Then you tell her your plan.

"I don't see why it wouldn't work," says Yu, frowning deeply in thought. "You're going to give it back after testing it out, though, right?" She sounds just a bit worried.

"One thing at a time," you say, not wanting to be too hasty. "I'll need your help either way."

Yu gives a committed nod. "You got it, Chase."

"Sullivan? Indigo?" you ask.

The couple turn to look at you, just a bit distracted. Where Sullivan is more than a little annoyed at your continued teasing, Indigo seems grateful for the release of tension.

"I'm claiming your relationship with each other," you announce.

That gives the pair more pause.

Sullivan recovers first. "It's all yours. Guess all you had to do was ask," he says, with a smile.

Indigo has more difficulty coming to terms, but in the end, it seems to click. "Wow, good for you, Chase," she says, stunned, but looking genuinely happy. "I always thought me and Sullivan might have something special. And now it's yours, too!"

Does that make Indigo your girlfriend now? Or is Sullivan your boyfriend? Or is it more like you're in the driver's seat playing matchmaker? Maybe it's something in between?

An unhealthy sense of potency and destiny swells within your chest.

Your friends' lives? You can take them, just like that. You can break them. Or you can help them, build them up. Or do nothing at all. No one could stop you. If they tried, all it'd take is a sentence to put an end to the resistance.

Absolute power is one hell of a trip. Here you are twenty minutes in, and you've already got delusions of grandeur. This is awesome.

Meanwhile, Yu's practically taking notes at your side. "Looks like it worked," she reports, witnessing Sullivan and Indigo's reactions. "Unless you're really sure about what you're doing, I think you should give their relationship back, though. This is getting kind of sketchy."

She does have a point. Then again...

What do you do with Sullivan and Indigo's relationship next?
