Andrea babysits

Andrea made ‘her’ way to the Johnsons on time and Brad and Barb gave ‘her’ instructions, which deviated from the usual.

“We trust you enough now that we know you’ll take good care of our little Billy out in public. So if you’re okay with it, could you take him to the multiplex at the mall? We’ll pay for your ticket and food and bus fare of course”, asked Brad.

Andrea thought it through, a scatter-brained look unintentionally appearing on ‘her’ face as ‘she’ failed to notice that she now hummed to ‘herself’ as ‘she’ thought.

‘This is like a tonne of responsibility, and it’ll be way harder to keep an eye on Billy out in the open. But he’s a good kid and I’m pretty sure he’ll do what I say if I’m nice. Plus a free movie would be fun’.

As the Johnsons were amused at how ditzy their babysitter was, they knew that despite ‘her’ apparent academic shortcomings, Andrea’s child-handling skills were excellent.

“Sure, I’d love to!”, Andrea replied cheerfully, and the thankful Johnsons gave ‘her’ the excursion cash and made their goodbyes.

Andrea and Billy enjoyed playing some Minecraft before they caught the bus and headed to the mall, Andrea keeping ‘her’ charge from misbehaving along the way by playing I Spy with him and pretending his choices were hard.

“So whaddaya wanna see, kiddo?”, Andrea asked, Billy replying by chanting “Battletoads! Battletoads! Battletoads!”.

‘Huh, guess the meme became a movie or summat’’, Andrea mused as ‘she’ turned a corner and was presented with a familiar face.
