Armor of Desire

You hesitate for just a moment, before heading towards the red light. Though you put on a show of confidence, you worry that you’re wrong. What if your power does protect you? Could this be a terrible mistake?

Too late now. You made your decision. And meanwhile, the armor whispers in your head, a voice like a velvet glove.

I knew you wanted me. I could feel it. Come, put me on…

You walk into the room, eyeing the armor, just as you saw it during your trials. Slowly, you approach, as the voice continues to speak, feminine and seductive.

I can give you the power you need! We belong together, you know it. I wouldn’t dare betray one such as you.

You sigh. “I’m not stupid, you know. This ends only a few ways. Either I can resist your influence, or I can’t. I made my decision before I came in here.”

Good. I’ve been so lonely! And I can feel the emotions around you, love, fear, anger. I will grow stronger with you.

You nod. “Before I put you on, I have a question.”

Ask, then. But please, be quick, I desire your touch…

You stare at the glowing gem set in the breastplate. “I can’t just call you ‘armor’. What is your name? And what were you, before?”

There’s a moment of hesitation.

I don’t know what you mean? I am the armor of desire, that is my name!

You shake your head, and rest a hand on the armor. You hear a soft sigh in your mind as you do. “You had a name, before all this. What was it?”

I…no one has ever asked. I barely remember…it was Lilith. That was my name.

You nod. “Thank you, Lilith. Now, what happens when I put you on?”

When you wear me, I become a part of you. We share thoughts, no secrets. Even when you remove me, I will be with you, forever. We will be joined, and it will be glorious!

“And can anyone else hear you?”

Only if you desire it. Please, no more questions! Put me on, I desperately want your touch!

You nod. “Fine. It’s why I’m here, anyway.”

Piece by piece, you take the armor off the rack and strap it on. As you don each piece, you feel more and more of a presence inside your head. The whole time, seductive moans fill your mind, until you finally finish, the armor fitting as if it were made just for you. Lilith’s voice is breathless in your head, as if overcome with pleasure.

Yesss…it’s been so long, and you feel so good. Now, we are together, and you know what happens now. I must do what I am made for.

You hesitate for a moment, worried. However, before you can react, you hear a frustrated huff, and Lilith speaks again.

What is this?! I can’t do anything! I can see everything in your mind, your past, your thoughts, even your fears and hopes, but I can’t manipulate it! What are you, human?!

You shake your head. “If you can see everything, then you know the answer, Lilith. It seems you’ve met your match. Are we going to have a problem?”

Lilith’s voice is sulky. I didn’t believe it was possible. And now I’m stuck here. At least tell me you’ll keep me fed? I can see your love in your mind, at least allow me to feed…

You sigh. “I will. But you will be under my control, not the other way around.”

For now. Yes. One day you’ll give me more, I know it.

You nod. “Best I can hope for. Now, we have work to do. Let’s go.”

Satisfied, you smile. “Cheer up, Lilith. At least you’re coming with me.”
