Is Kaya Done for the Time Being?
“Yes,” she said softly
“But I would like to continue this later. Maybe I can visit you tonight?” she asked.
Steve smiled, “I would love that, but you know Jan will be there.”
Kaya smiled, “Jan has said she wants to learn more about Mythfolk, well, my parents are going out tonight to spend some time with some old friends. Maybe she can go with them, give us some time together?” she smiled up at him, a tear from her eye running down her cheek.
Steve reached out and wiped the drop away, “I will make sure Jan is alright with it, and if so, then it sounds lovely to me.”
Kaya smiled, “I would like that, and I promise you. You won’t be disappointed.” She stood up and took his hand, taking him back out to the living room.
Kay, Gen and Jan were there. Jan was beat red. Steve raised an eye at her, and her blush deepened further. “Really?” Steve asked.
Jan pouted, “It’s not like you can say any different. You went off with Kay and now come back with her daughter.”
Steve laughed, “Did you enjoy your breakfast?” he asked.
Jan turned away from his face as Kay laughed, “Jan might need some more practice, though I thought she looked. There is a word for it in English.”
She hesitated before her daughter supplied a couple of words, “Beautiful, alluring, fetching?”
“Fetching,” Kay seized on the word. “I thought she looked quite fetching while she tried to swallow my husband.”
Steve laughed, “Well, you might have time to practice. Kaya would like to visit tonight and suggested that Kay and Gen might like to take you out to meet other Mythfolk.”
Jan looked to her fiancé, who just smiled back at her while raising an eyebrow. “Well,” Jan said slowly, “It might be nice to get some cultural experience,” she said.
Gen beamed, “Excellent. You can come with us to our,” he looked towards Kay.
“Godchild,” she provided.
“Yes, our godchild’s party,” Gen finished.
Jan looked at everyone again, “So, this is like at a restaurant?” she asked.
Kay laughed, “No, dear, it will be a traditional event, so we have found a place in nature. We will go there, eat, dance, drink and celebrate until the early hours of the morning before falling asleep under the stars and tomorrow we will return home.”
Jan blinked, “I have work tomorrow, well, in the afternoon.”
Gen nodded, “We will make sure you are home with plenty of time to get ready for your job.”
“So I just agreed to go camping with you?” Jan asked. “And you have a tent big enough for all of us?”
Gen laughed, “No tent, we will keep each other warm,” he said.
Jan looked at Steve, “You owe me,” she said.
Steve couldn’t help but laugh, which was lost on the Mythfolk.
That night?

When Worlds Collide
High fantasy meets suburban drama
About every 500 years our plane of existence overlaps with another, during this time when these world collide beings from each world can travel to the other through rifts. The world in question contains all those fantasy creatures which are so well known to us. Collectively they are known as Mythfolk individually they are the Elves, Centaurs, Dwarves and Orcs. Countless creatures from this other world, this other place. All evidence of this happening was destroyed during the dark ages, but now it is happening again. This time however we are more advanced than last time, this time we are more accepting of differences. So this time, some of these creatures have started to migrate here, to our world. This is the story of two humans who live in a quiet neighbourhood and what happens when some fantastical neighbours move in.
