Chapter 129 by CaptainPulse
Oh dear! Do they escape the river unscathed?
In a way yes, in a way no
As the roiling rapids pulled the two lovers about, they maintained their grip on one another. Eventually, the river led the two of them to a large waterfall, and as they went over, clinging desperately to each other, Tina saw her life flash before her eyes, realizing with glaring certainty that she hadn't done anything of true value in her brief time in life. If only she had gotten another chance. As she and L'Abbee tumbled over the edge, she closed her eyes and screamed, her cries drowned out by the roaring water. And when she hit the bottom, everything went dark.
...
"Hey, wake up! Shita, ye said she was alive, right? Wake up, nudey, we're burning daylight."
Tina slowly blinked her eyes open, bright light staring back at her. Only for a moment, though, before a pink-tinged shadow appeared before her, moving in close to her face. "I said wake up!" Tina felt a sharp sting on her cheek and jumped up in pain. "OW!" She cried, rubbing her face.
"Good, you're finally up. I was about to throw ye back into the water and make ye the sharks' problem, but it seems ye be smarter than that." Tina looked around to try and find the source of the grating voice that was speaking to her but couldn't see anyone, just an open sky and wooden paneling that reminded her of the pictures of ships she'd seen in picture books as a child. "Who's there? Show yourself."
Tina felt a tight pinch on her right nipple and yelped in pain as she looked down. Squeezing her chest was a small fairy wearing a long pink leather coat, a wide hat with a feather in the brim, and fine black boots. She was holding a scabbard on her hip as well. "Maybe ye ain't that smart, though."
"That's enough, captain." Tina looked up to see a tall high elf woman walking toward her, dressed in various gray clothes and similar black boots as the fairy. "We don't want to damage them too bad if we want to sell them later."
"I'll do what I please with my captives, Shita. It be me own ship they be on."
Tina looked fervently between the two women, her mind finally putting the pieces together. "You're pirates!"
The elf laughed. "Look at that. The naked wench has eyes. Maybe she ain't that dumb, after all."
The fairy flew up into Tina's face, scrutinizing her and poking her with her sword. "She's not much to look at. Not a lot of meat on her bones."
The would-be knight's face flushed bright red. "I'll have you know I'm quite beautiful. Everyone back home could never get enough of my looks."
"Couldn't have been a large pool, could it?" The fairy flew up, landing on the elf's shoulder. "That does beg the question, though, how did ye get so far out into the waters, and without a stitch 'a clothing no less."
Now, when facing pirates, keeping one's wits about them was key. One didn't want to, say spill how much money they were worth or how far away from home they were for fear of those facts being exploited. Pirates have a tendency to do such nasty things. Of course, the question was did Tina keep this in mind?
Did she?
