Arrests and statements

The police arrived and arrested the invading party and placed them in custody. The same thing was happening in California where the chairman and father of the invading party's leader was also arrested. Both Bill and Mark give their statements to the events in separate rooms. Mark in Ellen's bunk room and Bill in the main lab. Bill noted that the containment unit was missing. The only thing that made sense to him was Steven must have taken it with him at Ellen's request.

Bill's statement.

"I'm not really sure where to begin officer. You want to know what happened tonight only or everything that has happened leading up tonight as well?"

"Just what happened tonight sir. We have enough evidence with the firearms alone."

"Ok. Well as you can see the lab is a total mess." Bill had to embellish the truth. "Things went haywire for a short time, my terminal explode and our head technician fell ****."

"And where is your head technician now?"

"She's probably at home or the hospital. Depending on how bad she feels."

"We will need to speak with her too. Can I take her name please sir?"

"Yes, It's Dr Ellen Wright. Anyway. When she come to, I spoke to her for while just to make sure she was ok, when Mark was escorted at gunpoint into the room we was in, followed by Chris and the employees, I suppose you can call them, from some company called Robotech."

"Robotech?"

"Never heard of them until tonight. They're based in the States, so you might want to get hold of your colleagues over there for more information on them. But they were looking to steal our work and use it for." He thought for a second. "They didn't actually say, so god knows what."

"I see. Maybe you can explain something I don't quite understand sir. There are tens of bullets laying on the floor. Yet very little blood. They were firing at something that was located in the doorway. The position of the bullets is a clear indication of that. But there is nothing there."

"You wouldn't believe me. Not sure I believe it myself. But it saved our lives, and took down all of them. That's pretty much everything I can tell you."

"Very well then sir. If you could inform Dr Wright that we need a statement from her as soon as she feels up to it."

The officer then went to to join his colleague who was taking Mark's statement.

Mark's statement.

Still visibly shaken by the ordeal. Mark tried his best to tell the officer his version.

"Chris and I were just doing our normal routine when two car's arrived. I opened the hatch to speak to the driver and found myself face to face with a gun. When I turned to Chris, he also had one in his hand directed at me. He told me to move and he opened the gate to allow the two cars access to the facility. Next thing I know, I was being frog marched into the complex. We only went into Dr Wrights room because they heard her and Dr (Bill) Spartan talking."

"Dr Wright. You and the lab technician are the only ones here. Were is Dr wright now?"

"Possibly in the hospital. She did get shot."

"There's not a lot of blood on the floor to the room we found you in. just a number of **** men. So that seems very unlikely."

"Tell me about it. Well next thing we know, Some kid appeared and. I don't know how he done it, but he took every single one of them down. It was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. He saved our lives officer."

"One kid. Against nine armed men. You do realise how ridiculous that sounds?"

"I do. But we're alive because of him."

"Any idea as to who this supposed kid is. Describe him to me please sir."

"I think it may be the same kid that you're looking for from the nightclub the other night. The one with the shining blue eyes." Mark deliberately left out that Ellen referred to him as her boyfriend. "I owe him my life officer. My daughter just gave birth to my first grandchild and I haven't even had the chance to see him yet."

"So he came in. Knocked everyone out and left. From what I can tell. They manage to fire every round they had at one target and still got laid out on the floor. I'm having a great deal of trouble believing your version of events sir."

"I know how this sounds. Believe me I do. But, The bullets didn't even effect him. It was like they were firing blanks at him. But..."

"Go on."

"I saw the flesh on his face get torn apart. When they stopped firing. He just healed up. Within seconds there wasn't even a mark on him. It's like we were saved by some kind an supernatural being. That's the only way I can describe it. I know it sounds far fetched but it's the truth."

"Well as odd as it sounds, do you have anything else you want to add?"

"That's pretty much about it."

"Very well then sir. I must warn you though that your statement will be viewed as possibly untrue. You do understand this could place you in a difficult situation."

"Yeah I had already thought about that."

With the statements complete. The officers left to file their reports and interview the nine men they had in custody. As it turned out, two of them were so shaken by what Steven had done to them they admitted to everything and corroborated Mark version of events.

Steven didn't take Ellen to her home. He took her to his home. Jane, Jade and John, who spent the night with them, We're all awake when they arrived. They heard him shout Ellen's name before he left to rescue her, so they knew something was amiss and waited for him to return. Both he and Ellen appeared in the living room before them. Ellen looked around and saw them sitting there waiting. She sheepishly smiled at them not knowing what to think.

"Hello again Mrs Dawson." Turning to Steven. "Why did you bring me here?"

"Mum works for one of the big law firms here. She can help you get the right solicitor to prosecute. Besides, The police will be wanting to speak with you about what happened. Stay here, and you can speak to them when you're ready. They won't think to come here looking for you."

"I suppose you're right." Ellen turned to Jane. "I'm sorry." Feeling embarrassed, her cheeks flushing red.

"You don't have anything to be sorry about Doctor."

"Please, call me Ellen."

Jane flashed her a smile. She held no animosity towards Ellen. "Ellen. My son is alive because of you. You didn't know what was going to happen to him. How could you. Now look at him. All this power, and he is still the same person he always has been. But I can see by the way you two were holding each other when you arrived that something else is going on."

"Ok mum. You rumbled us. Ellen and I are connected in more ways than one. It just took time for us to admit to each other as well as ourselves how we feel about each other. I hope you're not bothered by it."

"Why would I be bothered?"

Ellen looked at Jane. Still feeling embarrassed. "Because I'm 24, and Steven is only 19."

"Ellen. It's only a 5 year age gap. And if you do both truly love each other. Then I have no problem with it all. Steven's dad was eight years older than me. So you may stay as long as you need to. I would like to know how you two ended up getting together though. But that can wait until later. I'm going to back to bed. We can get to know each other better in the morning."

Ellen's gratitude showed in her eyes. "Thank you." Jane left to go up to sleep.

Jade, without any thought of tact then spoke up. "You're girlfriends pretty hot Stevie. Jess is gonna be jealous as hell."

"Don't start Jade." He was serious, but still kept things light hearted. "Ellen's been through a lot tonight. Lets all get some kip and we'll work things out in the morning." Then Steven noticed the pillow and quilt on the couch. "You sleeping on the couch mate."

"Yeah of course I am. I'm not gonna jump in your sisters bed without taking her out on a date first am I. What you take me for?" Although he was smiling when he said it.

"Yeah. He's a true gent Stevie. He's got to wine and dine me first before he gets into my pants."

This light heart moment was enough for Ellen to ease her nerves somewhat. She looked at Steven. "We're not gonna do anything too but, Can I sleep with you. Just hold me." Ellen buried her head into Steven's chest and let all of her emotion pour our. Jade even came over to comfort her. They all turned in for the night. Ellen and Steven laid down together in each others arms and eventually drifted off to sleep.
