Chapter 6
by TheArchitect
The PE class is beginning in less than three minutes.
Hurry up.
Unfortunately, Mandy had no time to feast on each of the many stares she received, so she jogged through the rest of the distance between her and the physical education classroom. The sportshoes proved themselves excellent at their job, as they were light, comfortable and breathable like no other pair she had worn before.
Even her phone was at home, so the girl had no idea if she was late or not. Most of her classmates were still fooling around inside, and Mandy approached her deskmate Hannah:
"What's the time?"
"11:03. Mr. Hawks is a bit late. Oh, look at you, new shoes! How much were they?"
Mandy was not ready for this question.
"Uh... they were a gift."
"The soles are a bit too chunky for my taste though." — Hannah said after checking them out from closer distance.
"Oh, what do you mean? I had such great time jogging there in them!"
Many more words remained unsaid as Ted crashed the party, as he would usually do. He was the jockish captain of the local baseball team, whose overpresence and defiance of others' personal boundaries was balanced out by his overall well-intendedness and equal treatment of all the ladies that were not currently in relationship with him. Unlike many other classmates, he would never joke about Mandy's financial situation, and she appreciated that. Now he was all over the two girls' shoulders with his usual:
"Ladies?"
"Ted, you again." — Hannah said in an annoyed tone.
For Mandy, this time it felt different. There was no way he did not notice the sportshoes, the whitest pair in the room. He was always the center of attention, but this day he simply had to share some with her.
"Looking sunny today, Amanda." — and he was off, probably to storm other girls just for the sake of it.
She was a bit disappointed. It was not special enough. Mandy looked at the other boys doing pull-ups and thought of approaching them herself, asking about the time and catwalking back to the girls' side.
Just thought. This was not like her at all, but she did catch herself striking some poses, moving around on her excited tiptoes. It felt good, it felt warm deep under these tight shorts, and it was so inappropriate right now! She had to fend off these passionate thoughts, so she put herself back to the ground.
She stood flat on the floor, but her feet did not exactly feel that way.
"Wait, what?"
