Leveling Up

Doom wakes up the next morning, having surprisingly actually managed to have slept last night. When he woke up there was something nagging at him. It wasn't some strange sense, it was something more physical, a buzzing in his brain. He groans and tries his best to ignore it, but it won't go away. Finally he decides to focus on it and is suddenly flooded with information in his head. It appears he has leveled up. In fact it appears he has leveled up multiple times! He is able to understand exactly where all the XP came from and it seems that the majority of it came from killing Albus. Even after letting himself go he was still actually at a pretty high level and killing him had netted Doom a massive amount of XP. Altogether Albus had been worth about 4000 XP alone and with everything else he had netted himself about 3000 XP during the combination of the attack on Kia Marun, The Attack on Saluma, The siege and attacking Kia Marun again to rescue Belleza.

So, that was 7000 XP total... Multiplied and then halved for each of his monster races... That's 7 levels in both races and his class. That's pretty hefty. It comes with a massive surge in his Max HP, a basic increase to some of his stats and a bunch of new skills and spells.

Doom incorrectly assumes class will be simpler, so decides to go through his class upgrades first. The first thing he sees is that he could choose between Expanded Knowledge which gives him mastery of more basic elements or Exotic Study which gives him mastery of more exotic elements. He chooses Exotic Study and teaches himself Dark Magic, upon taking Exotic Study he also unlocks Exotic Study II gaining another Exotic Element and he chooses light, because why not. Exotic Study III will be unlocked at level 9 apparently. He also gets Potion Creation II which gives him the ability to create Mid-level potions and explosives. He should probably actually make use of those potion abilities at some point.

He gains a bunch of new spells as well, including the ability to create an area of effect magic attack, a point damage elemental magic attack and the ability to drain magic from others. He also gets a new skill that lets him combine elements so instead of simply casting a fire bullet, he can cast a water fire bullet and... it would be a steam bullet or something? Maybe just boiling water? He'd have to play around with that later.

Moving on he looks at his Spirit Race upgrades. The first is a choice between a passive regeneration ability, which would be nice, but he isn't sure how that reacts with his undead self. It also only occurs while he is in spiritually potent locations. He decides against it and takes the other option which apparently gives him the ability to see and interact with spirits and an additional 200% boost to his spell power. Next there are some actives, one is a skill that lets him create a spiritually potent area through meditating in a spot for a period of time, he'd already turned down the regeneration that would have benefited from that so he ignores it and instead he takes a skill that lets him become fully immaterial and grants him full immunity to physical damage while immaterial, but he won't be able to physically interact with others while immaterial. He could still hit others, and be hit, with magic while immaterial, but he also gained increased resistance to all magic while immaterial, it seemed like just generally a useful skill for him.

That seems to be it for Spirit, so next is Undead and the first thing he sees is a passive healing skill that will definitely work with his undead race since it’s part of the undead skill tree. Every time he kills an enemy he can heal a percentage of their max HP. He takes it without even thinking and never even gets to see what the other option was. He hopes it wasn't something too good. After that there is an active skill, the first is a touch attack that can paralyze enemies. The other is a buff skill that empowers **** magic and would have been pretty good, but he opts for the **** touch. He regrets not taking the ability to cause status effects and really wants a status effect ability. With that done, he seems to be finished. The Dark really doesn't progress as fast as the light does, he had gotten multiple advancements for his class, but even with two monster races he had only gotten about half as many advancements.

He remembers that he can unlock more classes and tries to remember what the conditions for those are, unlocking classes seems like a pretty quick method to gain greater power.

He gets out of bed and heads outside, trying to decide which Class seems easiest to go for when he realizes there is a commotion. People are running about, soldiers are heading to the walls. Doom stands and watches for a bit, still struggling to fully wake up and then his eyes widen and he rushes for the wall. At The top of the wall he can see, standing in the desert, a lone figure. Further behind her an army waits, but that hardly seems to matter.

The lone figure raises her sword, her green and red hair flowing in the wind and she calls out a challenge, not to Doom, not even to Raig, but to the Darkness itself.

"Hit me with your best shot," Alkadabuki speaks in a calm voice.
