Chapter 35 by Hellena
So, does telling you about Ms. Devlin heat things up, or cool things down?
Heats them up, naturally.
"Well, it probably started a week ago for me," Elizabeth begins, "You saw how Samantha got all hot recently, right?"
...You're not quite certain "hot" adequately covered it. She used to be this plain little church girl, but suddenly had legs to die for, super-kissable lips, and the personality of a total nympho. You don't know that you'd ever consider actually touching her, but she was a regular in your clitflix.
"Yeah," You reply, nodding, "She sold her soul for a makeover, right? Seemed like a pretty stupid decision to me, but I guess we're going to see a lot of people making dumb mistakes for a year or two."
Suddenly, Elizabeth looks rather nervous, and you realize... Elizabeth did meet Maya in Ms. Devlin's office. That chest of hers...
"It's better than surgery, though," She says before you can ask, "Instant, flawless results, enhanced sensitivity, no back pain, they'll never sag... They are literally perfect breasts, so long as the beholder likes their size. But, um, no, I do still have my soul."
You just raise your eyebrow, inviting her to explain.
"So Samantha told me about how she got her makeover, and talked about how I could be a 'perfect little fuckbunny' myself if I talked to Ms. Devlin, and..." She continues, "Well, I thought, what the hell? Honestly, I was happy enough with my body before, but if everyone is going to be demonically perfect... Well, I have to keep up somehow, right? But that wasn't the best part, in my opinion. Did you know Samantha before her makeover?"
You try to think back to your first dorm meeting, and... No, you don't really remember her at all. You have a vague impression of a pair of glasses sitting in the back, but... Yeah, nothing useful.
"Not really, no," You shake your head, "Does Ms. Devlin wipe out people's memories of your flaws or something?"
"I don't think so?" Elizabeth replies, frowning, "But no, Samantha used to be a pretty shy girl who hated to stand out. And, well, now look at her; outgoing, and living out her every desire. That's what I really want out of the deal; the breasts will just be a bonus."
...Selling your soul could change your personality? You... Aren't really keen on that idea. You weren't really that attached to your soul, but the idea that it could change who you were was... Distressing, on an existential level.
Then again, was it really a change? Maybe a soul just acted as a superego or something, keeping your desires in check. Or maybe it was some kind of supernatural parasite, feeding on your "real" personality. The idea that souls were real isn't something science had confronted before - and a priest would probably tell you that a soul is who you were, but people didn't turn into zombies after selling them, so that couldn't be right either.
"You know, I talked this over with Maya before," You tell her, focusing on the immediate, "Selling your soul is up to you - it is your soul - but you should remember. You only have the one, and this is a buyer's market right now, with everyone eager to get their deepest wishes fulfilled. If you wait a few years, then the balance will shift, and you can get more for it. If you don't want to be some supernaturally hot bimbo, then don't sell - think of something that you want, and trade for that instead. You'll be the outgoing dive-every-muff slut you want to be either way, right? But with the latter, you'll get, I don't know, an island filled with hot maids instead or something. And I'd like to have free access to hot maids."
"Really?" Elizabeth teases, "You wouldn't want access to these perfect breasts instead? ...But yeah, I get what you mean. I shouldn't just jump on the first offer I get... I'll think about it a bit more."
"Run it by me, too?" You ask, "It's your choice, but I could help you the wording or something, and I'd like to know what my girlfriend's getting. You'd feel pretty embarrassed if you asked for, say, unlimited money instead of unlimited wealth."
"...And ended up with a pile full of worthless clamshells, yeah," Elizabeth nodded, "I'll do that. Two heads are better than one, right?"
"Right," You nod back, "So how is it that you ended up with those, but still have a soul?"
"Ah..." Elizabeth hesitated, blushing, "Well, you see... I went in there yesterday hoping to trade, you see... Except, I knew I wanted to sell. But I didn't know what I wanted to sell for. Peerless beauty seems like a pretty natural thing to ask from a succubus, right? And Ms. Devlin is all about the lust. But... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I kept being annoyingly indecisive over what size I wanted, or what I wanted my other features to be like. So eventually, she just kicked me out with these breasts, telling me to try them out for a month, and come back with my soul if I wanted to keep them."
You try really, really hard to avoid laughing, looking at the miserable look on Elizabeth's face. She managed to annoy a demon into giving her a free boon? Future negotiations might look bleak for her, but damn it, that was a superpower if you'd ever heard of one.
"Well, it worked out for the best, I think," You say, smiling at her, "Your chest is pretty nice, but it's not your best feature. Your face is just so... Adorable and natural, just absolutely kissable."
Internally, you're cringing hard. Those were probably your worst compliments ever, but usually, you weren't actually hitting on a woman when you're complimenting them!
Now look, she's acting all awkward again!
"Well, um..." She hesitates before speaking, "She did kind of, sort of, well... Fix up my skin a bit first. Everything else is pretty subjective, but everyone likes smooth, flawless skin, right?"
By way of answer, you reach out and stroke her face. Her cheeks really did feel nice... And by the smile you received in return, she appreciated the gesture as well.
"Fuck, okay, maybe that is worth trading your soul for," You smile back at her, "So if that was yesterday, how did you end up in her office again today?"
"That's what I was wondering this morning as well," Elizabeth sighs, "I just got a call from Ms. Devlin, asking me to come in this morning. I was worried that she was going to take back my breasts after all, but there I find myself standing next to some super-cute woman, asked to come in with her. You don't need to guess who it was, but I found myself wondering what she was going to sell her soul for. I mean, she already had a killer body, right? So whatever she was buying with her soul, it had to be way better than what I was imagining. Except, turns out that she wasn't there for that."
"Ah... Yeah," You answer, a bit embarrassed, "We, um, kind of, sort of tried to get her fired. And failed horribly. Now Maya's working for her for a week so that she doesn't get kicked out of uni. Well, and get the **** tapes from her, but... There must be strings attached to that part."
"Wait, we have a free soul broker, and you want her gone?" Elizabeth blinked in surprise, "Why?"
"She's totally ruined our Comparative Religion class," You answer, shaking your head, "Just tries to get us to sin in the name of Satanism, now - not a word of actual useful lessons."
"...Really?" Elizabeth asked, eyebrow raised, "Just interested in academic integrity?"
"Okay, she also ruined the class for Maya, happy?" You answer, sulking, "I'd been looking forward to doing our homework together like it was high school again, but I'm definitely not sharing my sexual fantasies with Maya! Plus, yeah, it really does burn me up to see someone fuck with our classes like that. Sleeping with the students, I could turn a blind eye to, but this place was meant to prepare us for the real world. Maybe I wouldn't have acted on my own, but once she got Maya involved..."
"...Yeah, I get it," Elizabeth nodded, "Well, I don't really care so long as my soul deal doesn't fall through, and we've already been introduced. Go and avenge your girlfriend, girlfriend."
"She's not my girlfriend!" You say, with a touch of annoyance.
"You know, that was the other thing that really stood out to me at our meeting..." Elizabeth went on, "Maya had mentioned that the donors were all on Ms. Devlin's side, and Ms. Devlin had talked about how she was going to raise Maya into being some kind of, like, super-agent... But the really confusing part? Was how Maya told her that she'd foiled Ms. Devlin's 'evil plan' by being completely honest with you about how they'd slept together - about how she wouldn't be afraid of your sexual interest, because she knew it was just because of the story."
...Okay, you knew there were points in there that you should find concerning; it sounded like Maya was struggling a bit to find a way out of this, and was definitely sharing everything she was doing with Ms. Devlin. But the part that really hit you, the emotion that really commanded your attention...
Was complete and total frustration, as you buried your face in your hands. Just... How could your stupid crush be so dense. Trust her, yes, of course - you'd never overstep your bounds, not under remotely normal circumstances. But no, the damned story was very much not the only reason you were interested!
"Seriously, though, how is she straight?" Elizabeth asks, giving you a curious look, "The matching bracelets? The morning hugs? The necklace she gave you? Just... How?"
"A friendship thing from high school, she's a big hugger with friends, and she'd missed my birthday because of the flu," You answer, sighing towards the ceiling.
"It was Valentine's day," Elizabeth replies, deadpan.
"It was Valentine's day, yes," You reply, continuing to stare.
"Just..." Elizabeth says, shaking her head, "Fucking straight girls."
"Welcome to my life for the last five years," You sigh.
"Someone should pass a law," Elizabeth commiserates.
"So, uh..." Elizabeth hesitates, "Um, to get back to the shouting-at-me parts of this... I'm pretty sure she was checking me out before we went in. And then once in there, she proposed sleeping with me once Ms. Devlin brought up her, uh, obligation?"
"Ms. Devlin does something to her," You shrug, "Screws with her sexuality when she's with her, which... Yeah. Is why us. Because I'm a horrible person, and I don't need to be constantly thinking about the implications of that. Apparently, she screws with a lot of people's heads, so you probably felt it too, right?"
"Oh, definitely, but..." Elizabeth hesitated again, "Well, um, it was a pretty sexual atmosphere to begin with, so..."
"...Ah," You say, understanding her implication, "Because of the second obligation, right. Maya sleeping with her."
Elizabeth just nods, blushing.
"They..." Elizabeth hesitated once more, "Um, kind of invited me to watch."
Really now...
"Tell me about it?" You ask, biting your lip.
Elizabeth opens her mouth - and then closes it again.
"Absolutely, but are you sure?" She asks, "I thought you wanted less Maya in your sex life?"
"Not sure at all, but I'll ask anyway," You answer, "We'll fuck afterwards, and then it'll all be directed at you, right?"
"Oh, having sex on the first date, are we?" Elizabeth teases, "So forward of you!"
"Says the woman who aspires to be some kind of wet dream given life," You tease back.
And so, Elizabeth recounted her experience in the office...
This is definitely leading to sex, right?
