What comes in the morn?
Learn new things, A few goodbyes, then hitting the road
That night, I kept myself busy testing out the two new skills that come with level 4 in my monstrous classes. The feeling I got when I saw the first of my spawn to ever reach adulthood-even if somewhat hastily, had been mixed in with the typical expansion of possibilities in my mind that signaled gaining something new. One of them even seemed curiously pertinent, though I'm not sure if it was related. Acheivment unlocked, as the kids may say.
Fruiting Body(Verdure)(Level1)-Force your body to produce a fruit, which can contain significantly higher concentrations of alchemical substances. Fruit quality raises with level.
Panty-Ripper(Erosarkic)(Level1)-Increase all damage dealt to inanimate objects in melee by 25% per level.
Frankly, seemed a bit curious, the consistency that toggles and passive abilities are way clearer on what benefits they get on leveling. Thus far, the only spell that was as close was Augment body. A vague 'quality raises' vs a hard '25% per level'?
As expected of only a level 1 skill that wasn't effect by my stats, results for testing out the first one were...disappointing. It was more of a nut than a fruit-a large thing with a tough shell. Using my other new skill to help crush it revealed it to contain an oily center-looks like they'd need tools to eat this.
Soon enough, the morning comes, and the first of my little congregation gathers. More come as I spread word that I have an announcement to make. Once most of them are there, I make a short little speech for my goodbyes. "Gentlefolk, it's been an honor staying among you these past few days-and truly, a learning experience for me. However, I believe that there is a time that we must move on, and mine has come. I'll remember most of you fondly, and hope you all do the same of me."
At this, I curl up into my worm shape and begin my way along the road, my weight leaving a thick track alongside it. It strikes me as no surprise that Nanase's joining is a near-silent act of appearing alongside me after a bit. "You know, most people can simply walk up to people." I could practically feel a tension as she forced herself to not retort. Seems she was being forced to play nice against her nature and desires.
