There's no telling if it's true, but, somewhere out there is a mirror. Not just any mirror. Those who look into it are said to be able to view the land of dreams. How exactly it works, or even if that's what it truly is, isn't clear. But there's one consistent element in a lot of folklore across the worlds of Arcadia. There's a witch whose said to control the forces of nightmares. She presides in the shadows where she builds an army. Her desire to blur all of reality and the dream world into one. A nightmare that never ends.

As she sat back in her throne, she smiled to herself, thinking about all the legends and stories about her. All those stories are true, and also not. Stories that told of her beauty, she always liked to think were definitely true. It was also true she was going to invade the world of the dreamers, eventually. But...was that really so wrong?

Dreams told you more about a person, then talking to them would ever reveal. No other field of magic would allow anyone true insight into how a person really was. Mind control would just make them tell you what you want to hear. Illusions could make them perceive things that aren't really there, but it wasn't truly their own thoughts then, now, was it? All of those were magic that she was more than happy to use, but only one of them meant anything in understanding a living being's mind.

She had came to a conclusion. Humanity was sad. Bored. Repressed. Life was fleeting, and completely wasted on these arbitrary taboos they had set up for themselves. Thus, with her power, it was her responsibility to provide entertainment and wonder into mortal lives. Good and evil were ultimately pointless and subjective debates that meant nothing. But desire. All humans had desires. They thought about them. Even if they wouldn't admit to them.

That was the real beauty of the dream realm and herself. It didn't need to make sense, or live by any such restrictions. Both could simply do as they wished. The only thing stopping her from simply wreaking as much havoc as she wished, was that games needed rules. Being essentially all powerful, didn't excuse poor sportsmanship, after all.

Camilla took one long sip of her wine as she mused. She had quite a few games going on as it is.

She probably should check into the results of whose on a quest for that legendary sword to defeat her. Of course, she had made all that up. But if anything came of it, she'd just have to let them win and pretend to be destroyed for a good century or so. Still. Would be inconvenient to have people looting her palace in the meantime if she did that.

Maybe. Just maybe it was time to actually launch an invasion and conquer the rest of the dream realm. She had the ability. There was very little most could do if she really wanted to. But perhaps building her forces would help. Recruiting more creatures and breeding them for war, was always fun. It was always nice to see what things the imagination had came up with.

Or, maybe this was just a day to just mess with some hapless mortals and villagers. She didn't have anyone specific in mind. She never did. They just had to be a person lucky or unlucky enough to catch her on one of her whims. They wouldn't be the first, and they certainly wouldn't be the last.

What she wants is....
