Chapter 23

What do you do?
Make it back.
The same two-story building is present ahead. Compared to where you just came from, it suddenly seems a lot more shoddy, especially in the presence of such a princess. You'd rather not think of her like that though. People aren't better than other people. She was treating that one guy pretty shitty back when you first saw her. She isn't being as bad right now at least. Though by the way she carries herself when she walks, you can tell she's been raised in a different world than the other people you pass by.
"This is where you're staying, hmm?" she asks.
You gaze up at the building and nod. "For now. But I think this camera business is going to really take off."
She crosses her arms and shines a gaze towards you. "That's something you often hear. I suppose we'll see if you have the follow-through to really climb the ladder. After people know of what you did for my family, however, I think your fame just may grow on its own." Her look slowly transitions into a glare. "And why do you keep looking at my tail?"
"Oh. Well, believe it or not, there are no cat or rabbit people where I'm from. Like I said, it's pretty far."
"No catfolk nor bunnyfolk? What a fascinating land. I thought our people were quite widespread, but perhaps we've collected mostly throughout Tivera after all. Well, try not to stare so much. It's unbecoming of a gentleman. The only time you may look so thoroughly is during our sessions."
"Sessions? Like, you want more photoshoots?"
"... Perhaps. I didn't mean to say it in that way, but my own thoughts may have slipped out. Come now. Let's head inside if this is where we're headed."
Entering the inn, you spot the same bartender behind the front counter as when you first arrived--a cat girl with a golden bob cut. She stretches her arms high above her head, and for a moment, you swear the two tiny buttons keeping her sleeveless crop top closed over her breasts are going to finally give out. Though after she lets out a relieving yawn, she brings her arms back down to the countertop and looks to you with a bright smile.
"Hiya there, again," she greets. "Your friends arrived here not long ago. They're over there, at the corner table. Who's the lucky lady you brought with you this time?"
Bianca raises a brow. "What does she mean by that?"
"Don't make me sound like some kind of player." Though I see what she means. Besides Skip, I guess I've come in here with three different cute girls. I guess I'm pretty lucky, huh? And man, that was such a great photoshoot. I can't believe she was that open with me once the camera started going. "Anyway, this is Bianca."
The girl beside you furls her brow. She takes a stern, proud stance and casts her piercing stare towards the other cat over the counter. "Pardon me. I'm Lady Bianca Rosenborne, and I expect you both to respect that name."
"Oh my!" The barkeep gasps. "I didn't recognize you, ma'am. What brings you to our humble inn? Is something wrong?"
"Nothing is wrong. Bring me, Hayes, and his companions whatever drinks they desire immediately. Now, which corner table does she speak of, Hayes? Take me there."
"Yes, ma'am!" she replies.
You point with your thumb. "Right this way... ma'am."
"Say it properly or don't say it at all."
Just as she said, both Yiiv the sunheart and Ms. Lithvir the elf are sitting on opposite sites of a large table all the way in the corner of the inn's main room. There's a nearby fireplace flickering with light, and radiating with a comforting warmth. The center of the table holds the printer, and around it are playing cards. Each of the girls are inspecting their hands and playing some sort of game.
"Oh, hey there," comes the voice of Skip beside you. He's holding a mug in his hand. "You're back. Who is--... Is that who I think it is?!"
Lady Bianca peers back at him. "That depends."
He swallows hard and then clears his throat. "S-So I guess the job worked out, huh?"
"Excuse me, but I came here for only one reason. To proceed with our deal, and to meet with this Yiiv and obtain my so-called photographs. I did not come here to mingle with the common rabble. So please remain silent or leave."
"Hey now. Skip is a nice guy--" you try to reply.
She raises up her hand dismissively. "Let us continue."
You let out a sigh. "Sorry, Skip."
He laughs awkwardly. "It's fine. You're the one who was accepted in taking her portrait, right? You're such a lucky guy. Everyone is going to know your work now. And you know what? I don't think she's that bad. Just a bit bratty is all. I guess it comes with the job. You know, of being born into money."
"Come!" she shouts as she stops in her tracks, noticing you aren't following behind.
"Perhaps," you reply. "All right. I'm coming. Calm down."

You've come to possess a magic camera, and the residents of this world have no idea what a photograph even is, so strike while the iron is hot!
