Seems he's not alone

Reader followed a distinctive Shlorping sound down a side street, until peeking around a corner he beheld a sight even stranger than the slime he had just dispatched. Clad in only a chain shirt and snarling in frustration, Karen Allbright was battering at a slime with a Warhammer that could have come from a Thor cosplay. Arms and legs bare, her flaming auburn hair contrasting with the gleaming white of her chain armour, she looked like something out of Reader’s sexual fantasies, down to needing his help.

“They’re resistant to bludgeoning! Do you have an energy attack?” Reader called, instincts from many years of guild chats taking over. Karen spun, her angry eyes meeting his curious ones, and she leapt at him, covering the twenty feet between them in a single bound. Reader could only gape at what looked like a gleaming golden pair of panties descending towards him, and then she was on top of him, slamming him into the wall with a strength that Will at his most rage-fuelled would have had no answer to.

“Who are you?! What is this place!?” she shouted, Warhammer ready to strike.

“My name is Reader Numen. I’m a student at Staveburn, we’re in the same history class,” Reader began, matching her tone at first but slowing down as he continued, willing calm into his voice. “And I don’t know what’s going on-“

The Warhammer descended and Reader’s life – the second underwhelming one in a row, today’s events notwithstanding – flashed before his eyes. He scrunched his eyes shut to the impending ****, only opening them after his flashback reached the present day and he realised he wasn’t dead yet.

Karen was standing before him the Warhammer inches from his face, and a somewhat embarrassed look on hers. “I apologise for my aggression. Someone created this barrier but it couldn’t have been you. More likely it’s someone hunting you. If you’re lucky they’ll see I’m here and go away, otherwise I may have to use you as b-AAAAARG!” she suddenly screamed as the slime, which had been making its way towards them, goosed her. Reader frantically unequipped his already-damaged clothing as she spun around, cursing fluently and battering the seemingly unconcerned slime.

Might be able to get in her good graces Reader thought as he readied his electric knuckles, coming around and delivering another stunning strike to the slime. “Nonphysical damage”, he reiterated, “If you have a way of empowering your strikes now would be the time”

Karen nodded and her eyes unfocused, the hammer seeming to glow before she delivered an absolutely devastating blow to the stunned slime. Reader’s lips thinned as he saw only 25 XP as the slime stopped wobbling, it seemed the killing blow mattered.

“Thank you” Karen said, bending her head towards his unclothed cock before shooting back up, face red. “WHY ARE YOU NAKED?!” She shouted, covering her peripheral vision with the head of her hammer.

“Because the slimes dissolve clothing?” Reader ventured, a little nonplussed as he had to minimize a notification that had appeared. “You’re naked, mostly anyway”.

“Right”, she said shortly, turning mostly away. “You’re walking in front. You seem harmless but that’s often the worst kind of disguise. I don’t trust you”.

Probably not much point in inviting her to a party then Reader thought disappointedly. “All right, but do you mind letting me get the killing blows on the slimes we encounter then?” He asked the angry paladin-seeming girl.

“No.” she said shortly, “But warn me if you’re going to be going for it. I’d hate to kill you by accident”

That makes two of us Reader thought as he lead the way deeper into the strangely twisted cityscape. He took the time to read the notification eyes widening as he read
