Follow Eric? Brian? How's Things With Kenny?
Kenny Does The Right Thing
Kenny felt the tickle of Quinn's breath reaching his face, his eyes shut and lips slightly pushed out as she closed the gap between them. Kenny's body was stone, he couldn't step away or push forward into Quinn's kiss. He wasn't about to lie to himself and say that Quinn didn't have a certain...allure to her. The redhead had been nothing but sweet, friendly, and warm with him all night long. Juliet always raved about how good a person she was and it showed, Kenny enjoyed every second of this night with her. Still, there was one simple fact that overpowered it all, she wasn't Anna. At the last moment, Kenny turned his head and leaned the upper half of his body back, "Quinn...I can't," Kenny softly said in a clear apologetic tone,
Quinn's eyes fluttered open, her miss-matched eyes looked up at Kenny with disappointment but also with sympathy, "I don't think I need to ask why, but..."
"Anna," Kenny affirmed with a nod as Quinn moved away, returning to her position standing next to Kenny, "As much as I might want to, and hell, I'll admit it, I do want to, I can't. I made a commitment to her, and I can't betray her like that. Especially because I know the only reason we're acting this way is because of a stupid argument," The teen explained, his voice low and full of disappointment in himself,
Quinn brought a hand up and brushed some hair out of her face and let out a long exhale, "I'll admit, I had some higher hopes on taking that chance right now, but I can't be mad. I knew it was a shot in the dark," She murmured mostly to herself, sounding very matter-o-fact on the topic, "And you're right," She continued, her voice shifting to speak to Kenny fully, "This isn't the type of thing you or anyone should do, you're too good for that. I'm...sorry I put you in this situation,"
Kenny blankly looked back at the girl, his brow raised in stunned surprise, "You're sorry?" He echoed, "You aren't, uh, mad or something?"
"What?" Quinn let out a giggle, "What do you mean?"
Kenny took a half step back, "You aren't about to slap me are you?" He suspiciously asked causing Quinn to gasp,
"If you don't stop asking me stupid stuff I might!" Quinn exclaimed with a bewildered laugh, "Why the hell would I slap you?"
"Julie always told me that you had a temper...especially when things didn't go how you wanted," Kenny sheepishly replied, giving an embarrassed half-smile,
Quinn rolled her eyes and couldn't help but let out a scoffing laugh, "Oh I could kill that girl, I swear," She muttered under her breath, "Yes, I might have a slight attitude problem!" She humbly accepted before holding up a finger, "But! Have I given you any reason to think I was that kind of psycho? What kind of person would I have to be to say, "No Kenny, you must kiss me or I'll kick you right in the dick!" Like Jesus, dude, c'mon,"
Kenny let out a breathy laugh and nodded, "Okay, yeah, I guess I should have thought before I said that, sorry,"
"It's okay, I'm still into you," Quinn winked causing Kenny to nearly grimace. The redhead let out a loud laugh, "Alright, alright, that was the last bit of me flirting, I promise," Quinn swiftly reassured him with a quite pleased smile on her face,
"Yeah, thanks, I'd appreciate that," Kenny replied as the pair went silent, both thinking for a moment and also letting what had just happened settle and sink in,
"So...what are you going to do now?" Quinn asked, rocking her body forward and back anxiously, "Other than act weird around me now, that is,"
"I'm not gonna be weird, all in all, nothing happened right? Nothing to act weird about," Kenny reassured the girl, "And honestly, I don't know, I think I need to go talk to Anna,"
"I think that's a good idea," Quinn sincerely agreed, her voice nothing but genuine, "Whatever is happening between you guys right now isn't worth losing what you have. I can see how much you care about her, and clearly, it goes a hell of a lot deeper than some fling considering," She smirked giving a few flicks of her eyes between herself and Kenny,
"I do, and...I think you're right, but honestly, I don't know what to say. I know I pissed her off earlier, I was acting completely out of my head, and said things I had no right in saying. She just...made me so scared, and then I..." Kenny tried to explain but he held back, still unable to feel comfortable in bringing up the exact nature of their argument to Quinn, "The point I'm trying to make is, I want to say I'm sorry, I want to make things better but I want her to do the same thing...and more importantly, I don't know what to do if Anna is...over me,"
"First off, don't think that way, one little fight shouldn't be a big deal, and second just say you're sorry!" Quinn exclaimed, "Saying sorry is the most important thing you can do if you want to make things better, you start with that, you'll already be well on your way,"
Kenny let out a breaking laugh, "Yeah it always seems to sound easier when someone else is telling you how to handle it," The teen muttered before glancing up and seeing Juliet stumbling back into the room, "Oh boy," Kenny mumbled as he glanced over to Quinn with a smirk,
"Quinn?" Juliet pouted as she stumbled forward causing her best friend to run over and catch her in her arms before the brunette tripped and fell,
"What's wrong, Julie?" Quinn gently asked as she helped her drunk friend over to a chair,
"Too much dancing...too many drinks...guhhhh, this whole fucking room is spinning!" Juliet exclaimed as Quinn lightly pet her head,
"And to think you didn't even want to be here," Kenny teased his cousin with lazily threw out a slap that never had a chance to hit him, "Oh, a violent drunk,"
Quinn let out a snicker and knelt down, "You gonna be alright?" Juliet shook her head no, "You gonna throw up?" Juliet nodded, "Ooookay, excuse me Ken, looks like my free time tonight just officially ended,"
Kenny held up his hands and backed away, "Honestly, better you than me," He joked as Quinn easily helped Juliet back to her feet, throwing one of the drunk girl's arms over her shoulder,
"What else are friends for?" Quinn sarcastically replied,
"Yeah, hey, good luck," Kenny chuckled as the girls took a couple of steps towards the rec-room exit,
"Thanks, you too," Quinn returned before rolling in her lips and glancing back, "And hey," She softly whispered, "Not hoping that it will, but if anything happens to not go well...um, I'll be waiting. You're...someone worth that," She softly said with a set of blushing cheeks and a smile before quickly turning away and exiting the room with Juliet as quickly as possible.
Kenny crossed his arms and hung his head, shaking it lightly as he tried to think of the odds that he started this week without hope for any girl but a few days later had a girlfriend and another vying for him as well. It wasn't something he ever thought of having to deal with and worse yet it wasn't like he didn't like both girls either. Still, the clear focus in his mind was Anna, Quinn was sweet, but Anna was...everything to him. She was the only girl he'd ever really wanted to date before, the one with who he shared all of his firsts, and the one he had the most genuine feelings for. Losing Anna wasn't an option, not over something simple, he was going to fix this. He needed to man up, snuff out that fear, and go fix things, and that first step was going to talk to her. Kenny tightened his fists, any fear that was lingering in his mind was all but stomped into silence as he headed out of the rec-room, making his way back towards to den to go and talk to his girlfriend.
