Rides don't last forever.

I prayed that the Ferris Wheel hadn't broken down. It wasn't unheard of, of course. I just didn't want it to happen on Mai's first time on one. That would ruin her...

Wow...it was getting harder and harder to remember that Mai was a robot. She just acted so normal. Frankly, I liked that fact. Mai was, by far, the best thing I ever bought. I bought a helluva useful blender once. While it can whip up a great martini, it couldn't snuggle up to me...or better yet dress in a skimpy red riding hood costume for me.

Mai peered out the window. "...damn...people are getting off," she mumbled. She looked back at me. "...do you think if...we ducked down or something, we could stay in for a few more rounds...I mean...not 'rounds', exactly..." Mai blushed slightly. Sighing, I shook my head. "I think the doors open on their..."

Just as I said it, the door opened up. Mai and I exited the ride, Mai's face now in a sour expression once more...but at least this time I wasn't the cause. That made a big difference.

"Well..." I said slowly, understanding her disappointment, "...what do you want to do next? We can try something more...exciting. Or there are other rides where we can get some time alone...or the games, if you're interested." Honestly, I kinda wanted to do the games. If anyone could win those, it was Mai. Her aim was spot on, after all.

Still, I would leave it up to her. There would be time for that later.
