What's the problem?
A Cultish One
"It's probably easier to show you, come on."
Your friends lead you to another room. Against a wall lays a painting, on the discolored patch of wall where it once hung is a small hole. You look through at their instance and see the problem instantly. There is indeed a door labeled 'Basement' but four figures stand in front of it. Three of them are dressed in strange robes with shackles on their wrists and ankles. It's hard to see their faces past low drawn hoods but their facial expressions seem to be blank.
The last figure is dressed in similar robes but more extravagant and lacking the shackles. He wears no hood and it allows you to get a better look at him - he is almost inhumanly gaunt and his face is twisted into a sinister grin. Even stranger just looking at him seems to give you a headache. But the strangest thing isn't the figures themselves but something else. A werewolf like the ones you had seen earlier comes running up to the door. It looks around, as if the four figures didn't exist, and just as quickly it leaves.
"Okay, I think I see the problem." You say after stepping back from the wall. "Even if we could deal with those four, the fight would probably attract other monsters wouldn't it?"
"Wait, four? There were only three earlier."
"So they're multiplying? That's great."
You rub your temples as you think. It would probably be safer to go through another door to the basement but finding another entrance would be another story, even assuming there is one. On the other hand you don't like your odds against four people, not to mention the monsters may not notice them but they'll certainly notice you.
