Chapter 23
by Airell
Breed Usanna route choice...
Go for battle...
You realize what's going on here. Usanna is choosing a suitable partner, a young, curvy and attractive girl. You couldn't let that go, and you don't intend to give it up, let alone let another male take your place.
As soon as you step into the combat circle, you notice 3 other orcs, including Orakh coming up behind you. All claiming the same right with Usanna, who for the orcs is considered an honor to be the lover of the chief of the tribe.
''No, you won't take my place, human...'' Orakh mentions, picking up the wide combat axe.
''Hah, I'll take you down, this is my place by right!'' You see the other orcs, wearing leather rags, carrying heavy axes too. Physically robust and well-trained, but without discipline, as expected of a tribal culture. My place, I will make you learn your place.
Threats are expected, everyone in the circle seems determined to claim Usanna for themselves. You keep your posture calm, touching your sword, and it seems to irritate the other combatants.
''The human falls first!'' Orakh jumps towards you, focusing on you. The rivalry seems clear to get into Usanna's bed.
You don't have time to ponder too much, and draw your sword, starting the fight.
You fight Orakh, dodging constant attacks. You've already fought enough orcs to know this tribe's method of combat. Wild without thinking.
The two orcs seem to be fighting each other, forming two fighting pairs.
You deliver quick slashes with the sword, hitting cut after cut, Orakh's legs and arms slowly become covered in blood.
''No, not again...'' He looks more and more enraged. Seeming to ignore the pain, he gives a spurt of anger, leaping towards you, and giving you only a brief moment to react.
You can only move your sword, blocking the attack in that short time, seeing that his forces are running out after so long of combat.
He weakens when you **** the sword throwing him backwards.
The double bout takes place simultaneously, although when the other two contestants see that you are stronger than you look, they focus on you, even though they are already tired after battling each other.
The simple people of the tribe drink, laughing, talking and admiring the combat. A kind of fun enjoyed by orcs.
''Human... Ahh...'' They moan after so long fighting. Blood and bruises are visible to everyone except you. Your cautious combat style preserved your body, but you need to fight against three opponents, even if weakened, this is a challenge.
The joint attack puts pressure on you, who can only dodge while they use the rest of their strength to take you down. You need to fight hard to find gaps and keep striking, cutting the flesh of your enemies. Eventually, Orakh is the first to fall from blood loss and fatigue.
''Shit, that... Not again... Too humiliating... Usanna...'' He leans on the ax, sighing in pain until he loses consciousness.
You're just as tired, and you need to get it over with before your energy runs out.
You can more easily maneuver combat after that, seeing that your enemies are weakened. When the last fighter falls, you feel at the limit of your strength, but keep your posture, sheathing your sword and feeling the adrenaline in your body.
''This human is though... Shit, I can't lose!'' One of the orc warriors tries to follow in Orakh's footsteps and regain combat stance despite all the injuries from the battle, but before that continues, Usanna raises her hand, ending the challenge. ''That's enough! There is no point in continuing while the victor is already clear to everyone.''
At her words, the small crowd of surrounding villagers scream and vibrate at the waves of adrenaline of combat, the orcs certainly deeply appreciate things like this, and now you are seen as a hero, or at the very least, someone with a good reputation as a warrior. The expression on the fallen orcs' faces is one of contained fury, and frustration, as they've trained hard for this confrontation, but in the end, it's you who's won the final prize.
You end the festival by following your girl to the main hut, past a pair of orcs guarding the entrance walls, she mentions to you. I'm glad you did this, ''John... I've been waiting for... From today onwards you are recognized by my people, you can visit me at night if you want... I was waiting for you.'' The flames from the torches burn, lighting the way, but after that, the silence takes over for several seconds until you and she finally reach her room.
Fate owes weak people nothing.
''It's over... Finally. *sighs*''
