What do you do?
Try to mess with the woman’s ledger
As you start walking down the corridor, you feel a presence behind you. Looking back, you can see the Traveller standing behind the woman, who has returned to her seat. You go to call out to him, but he raises a finger to his lips.
Silent as the night, he leans over the old gnome’s shoulder and watches as she writes a few notes in the margins of a page. He looks up at you with a sly smile and points down at her book, his cocked eyebrow just visible beneath his ever-present hood.
You immediately know what he is asking you to do and vigorously nod your head, eager to please him. His smile broadens and he snaps his fingers. Strangely, no sound comes from them, but instead a shelf on the opposite wall collapses, sending the items on it spilling all over the floor. The woman lets out a string of curses and slowly climbs down from her raised chair.
You press yourself into a nook in the corridor, hoping to avoid being seen. By the time you peer back around the corner, the Traveller had vanished. As the woman struggles to bend over to pick up a silver goblet, you sneak up to the ledger and pick up the quill next to it.
