You are not a puppet!

There are more and more vampires all over the place lately, and you just can't do it. You can't sacrifice Jenny's friends for an empty promise from the vampires. It's clear that you're in the middle of a big conspiracy, but you just can't trust anyone. You can't stop the raid since Jenny will still be with the humans, and the vampires might hurt her for ruining their plan. If you fail to save her, you can just pretend you've lost your mind when you heard two people talk about the captured werewolf, and went to save her yourself. And if Eric wins, he might just return her for your support in the future, and if he loses, you'll just run together, or ... you'll paint everything in blood in that military base.

You take your phone out and call Nicole, wondering if she will answer or if she is already fully transformed.

"Yes?" she answers.

"It's Max!"

"Oh, hi Max, what's up?"

"Listen, and listen carefully. Eric met a vampire and made a deal with him to attack the other pack. The humans are working with the vampires, not with the other werewolves."

"That's not possible!" she murmurs.

"Whatever you do, don't go to that raid. Someone is planning something, and we are just pawns. From what I've gathered, people will get hurt."

"Max, where are you?"

"Nicole, trust no one. Just get Mark and leave. You are a great friend, and Jenny wouldn't want to see you hurt for no reason."

"Max, you're scaring me!"

"I'll get Jenny back, even if I have to mow down an army base!"

"Max?"

"Remember, Nicole, whatever you do, don't let Eric know!" You close the phone and smash it. Mia should be safe, as she is a doctor and not a fighter, and other than Nicole and Mark, you are not really close to the others.

It's not easy to hide hundreds of soldiers in a city when people are still free and curious about things. By now, you know where they stay and what facilities they use. Everybody knows. And two werewolf factions going at each other will surely attract attention and probably leave holes in their defence. Add the vampires into the mix, and it will probably be a mess. So what better time to strike than when all plans are put into action?

You avoid going home in case Nicole fucks up and gets caught. You did what you could. You buy some black clothes and even a mask, and you make your way towards the forest that is near the human base to wait for the right time.

You make your way towards a big rock and sit down, looking at the moon. You're a defective werewolf who is going to risk his life for his mate; nobody will believe you if you tell them the story.
