Your First Job

Note to reader: hey guys – next chapter will be a sex chapter! But I want to lay out the plot as well as the action as we go.

Adon drags you further into the guildhall and up a set of stairs into a new room, as you watch Liza leave over your shoulder. You breath in dust with each step closer you take into the musty old hall, and through an open hole where a door must have used to be, you see an empty fountain in front of you in the middle of an empty room.

"ITS STILL HERE! Fantastic!" Damn Adon shouts right into your ear, and pulls you further forward. You try to pull back – but he flings you forward instead! You can hardly resist the man – you look at him and use scan.

Damn. That's the first person who you have scanned who has had titles. At least you can confirm what he said about his name and his role are true. But apart from that, you know nothing about the man.

"I can at least use this skill to tell when someone is lying." you think to yourself. "That in itself will make working through this game a lot easier. I don't know enough yet about how skills work in this game though, so I need to keep this to myself though for as long as I can. If other people find out about these abilities, things might go sideways fast."

"Let's find out about your abilities then!" Adon booms again, right in your ear – and the roof shakes once more. You barely keep your balance and – wait, what did he just say?

Before you can object, he grabs your arm and pulls you on top of the font in the middle of the room, and water starts to rise from nowhere as your and his hand starts to turn aquamarine blue. After less than a second the font is full and Adon dunks your hand deep again into the water. And all of a sudden, your status menu pops up again in front of you.

"Hmm, level five? Not bad, for a newbie." Adon remarks. This time he spoke very quietly, as if deep in thought. "But what on earth are these skills..."

He can see your status screen too! He's looking right at it, and even seems to be pointing at them as he goes.

"You have no skills that can Your scan ability is of a very powerful nature, but a skill in oral? What kind of perverted pranks have the gods played on you? A curse disguised as a blessing, I am sure Liza would agree!" Adon said, then started roaring with laughter at his joke. The roof shook once more.

"Well, I am a pious man." Adon said, after eventually calming down, allowing the building to return to its fundaments. "And as a pious man, I have learned long ago that when the gods play such a cruel trick, luck tends to balance the scale in favour of their victim, if the victim knows how to use it. And luck's place, of course, is on the battlefield. So the battlefield is where you shall be sent."

"Finally", you think to yourself, "someone is putting me on the right path in this game. An actual course of action begins." But before you continue about the plot, you know you need to ask Adon something first.

"This is going to sound strange, but you don't happen to have a ... um, tutorial? Maybe some controls for logging... out..." you say, petering out near the end. "What a silly thing to ask a random stranger – hopefully the game kicks into gear and gives you an answer. But Adon isn't any help.

"Sorry, son, I've not a clue what you're talking about. But if you're looking to learn to fight, there's no better place than some real-world action. Visit Leoria, our ranger on the front lines. She'll be able to help you get geared up and give you your first mission. With pay, too, if you survive! Talk to her ASAP and she might be able to help you out. Pesky elves tend to pretend to know everything." Adon said, cheerily, with a prying glint in his eye.

But you were too distracted, dismayed that you still had no answer to your question. Still no way to get out of the game! But at least you have a lead now. It's time to find Leoria, and work out your next step.
