Chapter 13

Damn, Klyde should have brought more popcorn for this one, right?
Klyde's been dead for years, shut it.
As you hear Ariel's voice, a full body ache takes over, combined with a constantly stabbing sensation in your skull; accompanied also by a ringing in our ears. Our fingers feel numb, and the blood pumping through our veins feels... wrong, somehow.
"I think the last thing we need is more brain damage. I don't want any more neighbors in this head!" Says Urge, with whom I agree, try to reach Ariel, Ego.
"Oh crud, oh gosh, oh geez." The guardian says, wings beating frantically to reach your side; he must have flown here. "Ok, this is bad, but fixable... Maybe?"
Your vision blurs as a golden light wraps around your head. Strange, it seems our 'Godling' requires no incantation to enact spells or miracles as you or Sarmenti did. The pain and is subsiding, but the ache and weariness remain. A red cloak and religious garb can be seen entering clearing.
"Of course the Purity would bring it here, damn zealots." Cilla says in the distance; I've only just noticed how fine our hearing is... noted.
Fine indeed. Thump. Thump. Thump.
URGE, GET IT BACK IN THE CAGE, NOW!
"Aye aye, captain!"
"Shut... Up..."
"Rude." Cilla says, not hearing our little dispute with the thing in our head. "And here I was about to give you something for the Vibrosis."
"Don't know... what that.... Is...." You say, shaking up a storm as you speak... that's not good. "Explain later... help now..."
The one-eyed woman gives you an agitated look, alongside a small glass flask that she has uncorked; containing a sickly sweet smelling liquid. Its color changes each time our eyes blink, strange. You gently take hold of the container.
"Drink."
And so you do. Its taste is rather pleasant, like a liquid version of those hard candies our music teacher used to give us after class. Oh, old memories, sorry about that. Forget I said anything.
"Hey, Nerd. Forget, remember?" Urge says... my bad.
Ego is confused by these words, but is too preoccupied with attempting to re-learn how to walk to care.
"Dizzy..." You say, attempting to keep yourself on two feet; seeing Gabriella approach.
"Lord Brother... should we not move him first? Away from this circle? I feel as though Lord Ardor would dislike you working within his lands." She says, more nonsense coming from these people's mouths...
"Old Treebark would care more about these guys attempting to kill my charge in his lands than me healing him, Gabbie. And again with the lord thing." He says, attempting to help you stay on two feet.
Charge... Where are we even keeping his Alm? Urge? Ego?
"I dunno." Says the useless half of our brain.
You shrug... Ugh...
"Can we... Leave? They are... dead or... gone." You ask, flicking the blood and chunks of fanatic flesh from our left arm.
Ariel's face turns red as he starts yelling out."I noticed they're dead, Bud! That's kinda the problem! We can't have you just walk back in, covered in blood, with thirteen people dead!"
"I didn't... kill all of them... Sarmenti killed... two." You point as the mess of blood, bone-shards, and meat that once was Sarmenti. "Some ran... and that one... is still breathing..."
You point to Klook, whose mangled leg is pouring blood like a geyser.
The angel's voice reaches new peaks of shrill as he calls out. "OH MY ME! Gabbie! Help me with this!
He attempts to pick up the mangled seadog, and pull him towards the treeline. His sister reaches the wrecked man, and assists in moving him out of this circle. You and Cilla walk behind them, although your ability to balance is still off kilter.
" So, Nameless. You've killed... How do you feel?" She asks, her eye locking to you; unwavering.
Urge, take the thought-wheel for this. I'm going to go looking for more descriptors...
Nice, back in charge.
"Nameless?" Oh jeez, Nerd Hottie is asking questions; just say how you feel, Ego.
You respond, sounding like a hurt puppy. "Broken..."
Oh... damn.
Her face turns from one of 'I might have to kill you' to 'Aw, poor guy' real fast. "Well, I'm sorry we didn't arrive sooner. Given this is a shrine to one of my two patrons, I may have been able to **** them to leave."
A shrine? So killing those guys here didn't desecrate a holy site? I'm pretty sure we can't physically do that without like... exploding.
"I return." The Nerd Half announces.
Yes, back to guard duty, Urge. Chop chop.
You hear stomping over near the Godling and his mortal sister. Peering over, it seems Klook passed from bloodloss, and Ariel is infuriated. The guardian sits by one of the trees, soon joined by his kin.
"Ugh... Why did he have to pick the Alm..." Ariel says; hearing these words feels like needles stabbing your chest lightly.
"Oh, don't say that, big brother. You're trying your best." Gabriella says, attempting to ease the poor angel's frustrations.
"I... messed up..." You whisper.
Don't blame yourself, Ego. It was that... Thing.
"Yeah man, Madness is a dick." Urge says, quite the dick indeed.
You wish you had the Alm, so you could just give it back. Ariel doesn't deserve to get dragged through the mud like this; not by us. Suddenly, you feel the weight of a stone in your right hand; the Alm. It must appear when called, then... interesting...
You approach Ariel, with him giving you an angered yet defeated look; he sighs and asks "What, big guy?"
You hold the Alm towards him. "Take it... back. Don't want... to ruin... your reputation....with what... I've done."
He gives another tired look our way. "It doesn't work like that, Bud. An Alm can only be returned on ****, or given to another mortal."
Ariel closes his eyes, and leans back, deep in thought of how to fix this situation... and Gabriella looks at us with concern.
"Bingo" Says Urge, who should be getting back to work; after he reminds me what bingo means...
You desire to hold out the Alm to Gabbie, but... somethings missing. It won't work without some sort of... some kinda of...
Incantation.
Damn it, I was afraid of that... Ego, it's your choice. We can hold It on a 'leash' while it helps you speak the words if you want, or you can avoid the risk and keep the Alm for now.
"Now..." You say, making me very uncomfortable with what we're about to do...
You hold out the Alm to Gabbie, and our voices become one.
Lion Of The Heavens.
Seat Of The Sevens.
The Lord Of The Air.
God Born Of The Heir.
I Gift You His Alm.
His Fate In Your Palm.
A flash of golden light engulfs the area, with the large gemstone that once lay in your hand having vanished. The Alm now rests in the open hand of Gabriella, whose shocked and elated expression only being surpassed in intensity by a now wide awake Godling, staring in disbelief.
He can only manage a few words.
"Big Guy, we need to work on your impulse issues..."
Poor Klyde... Wait, he did what?!
Monster Isekai
