The reporter threw back her shoulders as she gave her answer, and crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"But I want a contract, in writing!" Lois said.

"Of course," Lex Luthor responded.

What followed, over the next hour, was not very sexy at all. Paperwork was passed to the reporter by lab technicians in hazmat suits as Lois soaked up the ersatz solar radiation of the sun lamps. Luthor explained that nudity was essential to the transformation process, as her quasi-Kryptonian cells needed to absorb as much energy as possible. Still Lois was able to request, and receive, a simple chair, a folding table, and a bottle of water as she carefully went through each page of the contract.

Finally, Lois came to the bottom line, where she would sign it.

"What happens if it doesn't work?" She asked suddenly. "If the transformation doesn't take, or if it doesn't become permanent?"

"You still get money, and access," Luthor responded through the speakers. "Science advances in part by learning from its failures. In your case, however, I calculate a high probability of success."

The reporter chewed on that thought.

"One more thing," she said, and stared up at the screen. "I want to send a copy of this contract electronically to a friend, for safekeeping. Before the procedure starts. So I need my phone."

A part of Lois imagined that was going to be a dealbreaker...but no, only a few minutes later the labtech returned with her smartphone. Lois carefully photographed each page...and then signed, right above Lex Luthor's own signature. Date and initial...and Lois emailed the assembled pages off. Waited until she received confirmation that it had been sent. The labtech returned to take the contract and the phone from her, and Lois sighed, feeling the tension in her body.

I'm really going to do this, the reporter thought to herself.

"Alright, Lex. What do I do?"
