What's next?
Plucking the Victory!
Dolan and Yang took their positions on opposite sides of the room preparing to clash. While they were getting ready Yang saw that Dolan still refused to use the sword that was laying on the front desk.
Yang: You're still not going to use the sword?
Dolan: Why bother. That sword I brought is just a prop I carry with me around the school. Besides you want to throw hands, so I'll throw hands as well! Just don't be too salty when you lose.
Yang: Please other than my dad I've never lost to anyone!
Dolan: That so, I'm honored! Worry not since this is to be your first time, I promise to be gentle with you~
Yang: Phrasing.
Dolan: I know what I said! Now ready up!
Yang: Done and Done!
Dolan: Then let the games begin!
Just as Dolan was about to press a button on his scroll, Yang launches herself forward with "Ember Celica" to try and land the first blow only for Dolan to toss his scroll high into the air then proceeded to clench his fist and charge forward to match Yang's punch. Once they made contact the force from their attacks caused the whole room to shake. They then began to throw punch after punch toward each other and make sure not to give the other any window to land a clean hit. Unfortunately, the short stalemate ended when Dolan went in for a 'Right Cross' only to feint it and make a complete 180-degree turn to kick Yang in the stomach sending her flying back far enough for Dolan to catch the scroll he tossed into the air.
Yang wasn't expecting him to kick her; she was preparing to guard her face from Dolan's punch and left her stomach wide-open for an attack. In terms of hand-to-hand, both combatants were pretty equal in skill however what separated Yang's from Dolan's came down to how much they used their bodies in the fight. For the most part, Yang mainly focused on punching her opponents since that was where her weapons were located and where most of her damage comes from. This means she hardly if never uses her feet in her attack patterns which Dolan knew about thanks to the recordings of her performance during initiation, as well as when she fought the 'Malachite Twins' who told Dolan about the way she fought the two of them shortly after he finished having sex with the twins. Meaning unless Yang works on incorporating all parts of her body into her combat, she, unfortunately, stands little chance at beating Dolan hand to hand.
Dolan: That was pretty rude don't you think? I was just about to start playing some music to spice up this fight!
Yang: What can I say I just wanted to get a little bit of an "Unfair advantage" on you is all~
Dolan: Oh! So that's what this is about? Just because I swiped your sister's oversized harvesting tool.
Ruby: Hey for your information my "Crescent Rose" isn't just some oversized harvesting tool it's also a gun!
Dolan & Yang: ...
Ruby: "Wait a minute! I mean it's not a harvesting tool it's my weapon as well as my pride and joy!" -she says getting all pouty.
Dolan: Whatever Pipsqueak!
Ruby: It's Ruby! RUBY, I TELL YOU!
Yang couldn't help but snicker at the nickname Dolan had given her and the cute face she was making because of it.
Dolan: Has she always been this easy to tease?
Yang: Pretty much.
Dolan: Well as much as I'd love to continue teasing your sister, I'm afraid I have to bring this fight to its end!
Yang: Oh yeah and how are you going to do that? Other than that, kick you did to me I'm still ready to go!
Dolan: Simple I'll use your greatest weakness against you~
Yang: My weakness? Pfft yeah ok and just what is my weakness huh?
Dolan didn't say a word instead he held out his fist before opening it to reveal a strand of hair. Seeing what was in the palm of his hand Yang's eyes turned red, her hair began to glow, and the whole room could feel the intense pressure emanating from Yang. Yes, her greatest weakness wasn't her overuse of punches nor was it her constantly using her semblance to win a fight. Nope her greatest weakness was when someone messes with her hair; something he learned when a poor Ursa managed to pluck one of her golden locks of hair during initiation...that poor, poor Grimm.
In her anger, Yang charges Dolan to punch him in his face but in her blind rage, she leaves herself wide open. As this was happening Dolan waited patiently for the right moment to make his counterattack and as Yang was about to make contact with his face, almost as if time itself was slowed, Dolan maneuvers out of the way of Yang's attack, grabs her by the arm and uses all the momentum she had built up to spin her around. The next thing to happen was Yang being lifted into the air with Dolan still holding her arm and using all the built-up energy from the spinning, slams Yang into the linoleum floor. He then releases Yang's arm and proceeds to place his foot against her throat forcing Yang to submit.
Dolan: And that is "Checkmate"!
Yang: I-I ...surrender.
Hearing this Dolan removes his foot from her throat and holds out his hand to pick her up.
Yang: Thanks...um so how did you figure out about my...you know?
Dolan: Simple you see just because the headmaster shoots his students off cliffs doesn't mean he doesn't care about your safety! During initiation cameras were placed all around the testing area not just to keep an eye on the students but also to keep a lookout for any foul play or cheating.
Dolan: As I was going over one of the recordings, I saw that Ursa managed to nick you and how you reacted to it. You went batshit crazy and pummeled the crap out of it.
Yang couldn't help but smile and scratch her head from his comment.
???: Let us hope that this doesn't become a habit!
Both Dolan and Yang turned around and close to the door were six individuals. The first four were Blake, Jaune, Nora, and Ren no doubt returning after bringing Team CRDL to the infirmary. As for the remaining two, they were supposed to still be at a meeting, but it would seem that was no longer the case since both Glynda, and Ozpin was now in the room.
Dolan: Ozpin? Why are you here, what about the meeting with the council?
Ozpin: As it would happen, the meeting ended much earlier than we were expecting.
Glynda: And once we got back, we saw these four bringing the members of Team CRDL to the nurse's office!
A drop of sweat slowly ran down the side of Dolan's face. From the way his aunt was sounding she wasn't too thrilled at seeing her students being in the infirmary so early in the semester.
Dolan: Ok so... in my defense...I made sure none of them ended up with any broken bones!
Glynda's only response to him was a raised eyebrow.
Dolan: Or...any concussions! So technically I made good on my promise!
Glynda: *sigh* I suppose you did.
Dolan: So, since you're back early does this mean you'll be taking over from here?
Glynda: No, I don't believe so I'm afraid, judging by how much time remaining it's not possible to go over everything. Especially when some of them are not here right now!
Dolan: Ehe...
Glynda: So, with that said I suppose you'll just have to finish your 'lesson'.
Dolan: I guess we have enough time for one more fight.
Dolan: In that case-
Pyrrha: I can do it!
Everyone in the room turned to Pyrrha who was standing up with her hand in the air. Undoubtedly, she was the best of all the First years, with Yang just below her. Both Ozpin and Glynda were curious about just how much Mistral's "Invincible Girl" could stack up to someone like Dolan.
Ozpin: Very well then Ms. Nikos you'll be the last combatant for today's combat course.
Glynda: *Ahem*
Ozpin: Aw yes perhaps we should move this fight outside!
Looking around while it was true that Dolan and Yang's fight was short with minimal combat to it the same could not be said from the amount of damage caused by their brief exchange. Cracked windows, as well as the large cracks on the linoleum floor where Dolan slammed Yang, were all the proof needed to want to move the fight outside. As everyone was heading towards the door Dolan tapped Yang on the shoulder to get her attention.
Yang: What's up Big D?
Dolan: (Oh Great another nickname I have to keep track of.)
Dolan: So, I just wanted to apologize for earlier.
Yang: About slamming me to the ground? Eh, it's no Biggy besides you just might be doing it again pretty soon~
Ruby: Eww Yang!
Yang: What?
Dolan: Heh, um no not that I mean this.
He hands over the strand of hair to Yang. However, when she looks at it, she is left speechless. Upon closer examination, the strand of hair was just a shade darker than Yang's. Not only that but the strand of hair wasn't even a strand of hair at all; it was a strand of rope thread that just so happen to look like it was hair. It was at this moment Yang realized that Dolan used the thread to goad her into attacking him knowing full well that she'd react the way she did so he in turn could restrain her easily and secure his victory.
Yang: I can't believe I let such a cheap trick cost me a win.
Ruby: Well then, I guess you could say he...
Ruby: "Won by a hair"! -she says with a smile on her face.
Yang: "Wow...Really" -she deadpanned.
Ruby: Now you feel my pain!
Dolan would later learn from Ruby that both Yang and their dad had a habit of telling corny jokes which Ruby soon grew sick of hearing. Guess that's family for you. With that done, Dolan and the members of Team RWBY head outside for the last fight of the class.
