Cheerful colors

Bella leads your group back down towards the shore, where you can see the boats ferrying people in from the ships. There seems to be a rather celebratory mood, and everyone seems to be getting along, which makes you feel relieved and happy. Bella stops, looking around.

“Now, where did that girl get off to? She was so excited to see visitors…oh, of course!”

She walks over to a nearby tree, looking up into the branches. “Cassie! Come on down, dear! There’s someone you should meet!”

A cheerful voice responds immediately. “Ok mom!”

You look at Bella. “Wait, she called you mom?”

Bella laughs. “Adopted. She came to me as a scared chameleon girl orphan, and I couldn’t say no to that cute face. And she’s grown into a wonderful woman now.”

Before you can respond, a figure drops down from the tree, landing in a crouch in front of you.

Looking up at you with wide, yellow eyes is a colorful woman, dressed in a simple cropped top and shorts. She stands, and you realize she’s quite short, only reaching your chest. Cassie is thin, with small breasts and a long tail swaying behind her excitedly. She has wild purple hair, and colorful sections of skin in the same color, on her hands and arms, her legs, and her exposed midriff. You also notice freckles on her cheeks as she smiles widely.

As she begins to speak, you’re surprised to see her hair rapidly change color to a mixture of pink and yellow, the colored patterns on her skin changing to match.

“Hi hi! I’m Cassie! Oh, you’re the one from the boat, I saw you come in! Are you an adventurer? Who are the others? Are they your friends? Ooh, or a harem? Why are her eyes covered?”

You’re stunned by her rapid speech, unsure where to begin. Thankfully, Bella steps in.

“Cassie, calm down. This is Nicholas, and yes, he came in on the ship. The others are Ferra, Alex, and Melora, his…companions, let’s say.”

Cassie giggles, her hair and skin changing again, adding green to the mix. “Oh. Oh! So they ARE a harem, right?”

Alex grins. “I like her! Can we keep her? She’s so cute!”

Cassie claps her hands excitedly. “You think I’m cute? Yay! What does Nicholas think though? I think he’s cute!”

You chuckle. “You’re very pretty, Cassie. Bella was thinking that you could join us on our adventures…”

Cassie interrupts you. “Really? Yay! Can I be in the harem too? I’ve never done that before, but it sounds fun!”

Now Melora laughs. “Isn’t she eager, even in front of a parent!”

Bella shrugs. “Cassie keeps no secrets. And I think she fell for Nicholas immediately.”

Cassie nods excitedly. “You’re so handsome! And you’ve got pretty girls with you too! The quiet one, you said her name is Ferra? I like her the best!”

Ferra blinks, looking between you and Cassie. “I approve of this one, Nicholas. She has good taste.”

You chuckle at the rare joke from Ferra. “I suppose it’s unanimous, then. You can come with us, Cassie.”

The chameleon girl bounces excitedly. “Yay! Adventure! Say…you never answered about the blindfold, miss Melora! Can I ask what’s going on?”

Melora hesitates a moment. “It’s…a sad story, not really appropriate for the moment. But I was blinded to increase my power as a seer.”

Cassie pouts, her colors fading to a dark blue. “Oh no! Did…did you do it on purpose?”

Melora shakes her head. “No, it was…done to me. But I’ve learned to compensate with my powers.”

Cassie clenches her fists, and streaks of red mix with the blue. “That’s so cruel! Can I…would you mind if I tried something?”

Melora shakes her head, and Cassie steps close to her, lifting her colorful hands to the taller woman’s face. As you watch, Cassie closes her eyes, and her hands shift color to a pure white. At the same time, the rest of her coloration shifts through a kaleidoscope of colors, and you can feel the flow of power within her from where you stand. After perhaps a minute, she steps back, her eyes opening and her hair shifting back to the purple you first saw.

With shaking hands, Melora reaches for her blindfold. Slowly, she pulls it off her head, and opens her eyes. For the first time, you see Melora’s eyes, a beautiful, vibrant blue, as she looks around in wonder. Tears roll down her cheeks, and she whispers quietly.

“I…I can see.”

Suddenly, she scoops up the smaller chameleon girl in a hug, laughing and shouting through tears. “I can see! Oh thank you!”

You hear a muffled giggle from Cassie. Despite being practically smothered by Melora’s breasts, you hear her cheerful voice once again.
