"Deadneck won a battle against the Black Lynchers today." Lisa told the towns folk.
There was a cheering from the assembled masses and toasts raised to Lisa for killing John Delvers.
"Now we must prepare for their retaliation." Lisa called out over the noise.
At the mention of retaliation a deathly silence descended on the saloon. Realizing that she had their full attention, Lisa went on.
"When the men I let go get back to their boss," Lisa explained "they'll tell him what happened. Then they'll be back here for some payback."
A few angry questions were raised about why Lisa had let the Lynchers go.
"I'm not a murderer!" Lisa answered. "And there is nowhere to imprison them."
Lisa took a deep breath and continued.
"We need to prepare for their return." Lisa explained. "If we beat them off, we should get a repreive."
"How we gonna fight them?" a voice asked. "None of us is good with guns."
There were general agreements voiced from the crowd. Lisa feared that the town would just let the Lyncher ride in and do what ever they wanted. Until a new voice was raised.
"Give me a rifle and I'll stand with ya!" Caitlin Wilde called out.
Everyone looked at Caitlin, who was stood just inside the entrance to the saloon. One by one the towns folk decided to back Lisa and her as yet undisclosed plan.
"So what your plan?" a voice asked.
Everyone looked expectantly at Lisa, waiting for her to reveal her plan to take on the full might of the Black Lynchers...
