Rude awakening

The rest of the day goes rather quietly. Damon has no objections towards Mike and Fiona, and in fact thinks it’s a good use of his newfound talents. He admits that unless something major changes, there’s little testing left to be done beyond monitoring, and so seeking other options is a good idea.

As for the others, everyone expresses an enthusiasm for the idea. Kyrie in particular demands to be included, and mentions that she knows several people who would probably be interested as well. Liam is less enthusiastic, though that seems to be more out of a worry about being ignored. Mike reassures him that he won’t be forgotten, and soon Liam is as excited as the girls.

By the end of the day, Mike is more tired than usual, simply from the excitement all around. For the first time since he and Alicia moved in together, he simply goes to bed, though there are plenty of kisses and smiles exchanged. Sleeping with Alicia is comforting, and she must feel the same, as they both drift off within minutes.

An unknown time later, Mike is startled awake by a hand over his mouth. A soft voice whispers in his ear. “Be quiet and come with us. We will not hurt you if you do.”

In the darkness, Mike can make out two silhouettes, and one of them is clearly holding a rifle trained on him. Moving slowly, he puts his hands up, sitting up in bed. As his vision clears, he can see that the two intruders are women, and appear to be human! Instantly he realizes that these must be the ones who came through, and it seems they’re here for him.

The one next to him, a slender blonde, tosses him a pile of clothes as he stands, then pulls him towards the door. The other, a woman with long silver hair and a body that even her military outfit can’t hide, covers them with her rifle as they move. Once out into the hallway, they wait and watch as he dresses quietly. Despite the stress of the situation, he can feel their eyes wandering over him.

Once he’s dressed, the blonde gestures towards the front door. “Go. Make any noise, or any attempt to escape, and it will end badly for you.”

Mike looks at them for a moment. He doesn’t think they would kill him after going to all this trouble to abduct him, but they might hurt the others. And besides, he thinks, the changes in him give him an advantage they may not know about. Eying the two women, he makes up his mind not to resist. Yet.
