She talks about it with a friend

At the campus, Sarah meets with Claire, a friend of hers in the same classes.

"Hey !" She greets her.

"Hey ! How're you ? You seem pumped up." Asked her friend.

"I just discovered that Spencer, is whoring herself to pay for college. Can you believe it ?"

"Well, yeah, it was kinda obvious..."

Sarah was going from surprises to surprises, she knew and didn't say anything ?? And she said that it was obvious...

"Wait ! Did everyone knew about this ? Was I the only one who didn't noticed it ?" Sarah asked, feeling like she missed a whole elephant in a corridor.

"I didn't say anything because I thought you knew, like everyone else." Told her her friend, like it wasn't news at all.

"And the direction doesn't do anything about it ?"

"You know, as long as money gets in, they don't really care how you get it."

"But that can't be legal, is it ?"

"Of course it's legal, or they wouldn't allow it ! As long as there is consent in both part, it's absolutely legal."

Sarah was more and more losing her mind on this and Claire was talking about it like it's common knowledge. What was she missing, what was going on ?

She didn't know that, the more she was digging into that rabbit hole, the deeper she was making it.

"You're not making fun of me, right ? You're telling me that some women have no problem selling their bodies for money ? Is it common ?"

"What's going on, with you today ? You act like you just learned that a lot of girls pay their studies thanks to prostitution. It's a difficult job, though, there is a lot of competition, obviously. So a lot of girls have to do all kind of porn level stuffs to keep their clients and some even invest in plastic surgery." Claire explained.

Sarah was sure now that something was wrong, nothing of the like existed the day before. Was she in a dream or something ? What else was going on in this world ?
